encore software help

Post by angel1 » Wed Feb 18, 2009 10:48 am

I am a new cpap user, got my Remstar M A-flex machine with humidifier. DME will not give me the software reader. I need to buy on my own. Does the encore software really helps me to monitor my treatments ? where can I purchase the software for resoanabley priced ? If I read my data with the software, will my therapist can see the same data or it changes ? Thanks.

Hi Angel, welcome to the forum!

Card readers are readily available from these sources:

Mako DT3500 USB (Infineer)– $49.00
http://www.securetech-corp.com/mako_dt.html

Mako DT3500 USB (Infineer)– $39.00 plus $13 shipping
http://www.minamielec.com/

Mako DT3500 SmartCard Reader USB - $54.00
http://www.cpap-supply.com/Mako-DT3500- ... dt3500.htm

Infineer (Mako DT3500) Card Reader from https://www.cpap.com - $139.00
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/Respir ... r-USB.html

To my knowledge, no insurance will reimburse you for the cost of the card reader or the software.

In the early days of your therapy, reading your card data is critical to ensure you are getting adequate therapy. As you settle into a good groove, it becomes less critical, but you will find that other factors will change, and you'll want to check your data against these changes.

Hope this helps!!!
Barbara

In addition to the card reader that Babs provided links about, you'd also need software, Angel.

Encore Pro software erases all data from the card unless you change a setting.

But Encore Viewer software doesn't erase the card.

If you use Encore Viewer software, all the data will remain on the Smart Card. It will all be there for the DME or doctor to see if they want to do a download of your Smart Card in the future. Encore Viewer software (which is sold to patients) will give you the same data, same graphs as Encore Pro (which is not sold to patients anymore.)

When I say, "Encore Viewer" software is sold to patients, that doesn't mean your local DME would carry it or has even heard of it. They are used to using Encore Pro, which they wouldn't let you have, and they've probably not even heard that.....

Encore Viewer software was developed by Respironics specifically FOR patients to buy, if they want to. But just about the only places that sell it are online cpap supply stores. cpap.com carries it. Or you could Google for "Encore Viewer cpap software" and check prices at other online stores. cpap.com will price match things, I've heard, if you find a lower price for it elsewhere.
