Respironics Hose Cover Anyone?
Thinking about getting a fleece hose cover. I hear Snugglehose alot and was wondering about Respironics version. I don't have much of a rain out problem. Mild on occassion. I think the cover would help thought it would make the hose more comfortable in general. I thought I saw a cpap user here was starting to produce some too perhaps?
So, aside from color choice issues, any comments on the various ones available? In particular do any of them make that "peely" stuff you get on certain sweaters, or otherwise degrade over time? Are some thicker/warmer per se than others? The respironics brand looked good in a photo and I thought it would fit well.
Thanks for any input.
Joe

I have a blue ResMed hose cover, I feel like it does not help with rainout. If you are having a rainout problem, then you may want to turn down the humidifier. However, it does look better than that medical looking hose.

The very best hose cover in the world is made by Pad A Cheek!! It is micro fleece and is VERY well made!! You have got to go to the website --www.padacheek.com and view all that is there--you can choose different colors and lengths!! These are made with love from a CPAP person who is also a forum memeber. I have one in the "blue Stars" and I LOVE IT!! It is so soft, well made, durable and lots of velcro to hold the ends tight--you will not be sorry-----
I have the Snuggle Hose cover too that I got before I found Pad A Cheek and it is much thinner, it pills and very cheaply made compared to hers----

Re: Respironics Hose Cover Anyone?
Snugglehose brand SUCKS. It's cut too tight, and takes A FRICKIN' HOUR TO GET ON AND OFF.
Make your own, or try Padacheeks or Pur-sleep's versions.
Or google "cpap+fleece+hose" and find one by another manufacturer.
I'm currently sleeping with the Resmed brand zippered hose cover and really like it. Super easy to get on and off, and works like a charm.
http://www.thecpapshop.com/cpap-tubing/33963.html
I got it from OptionCare, a subsidiary of Walgreen's, for $18 and no scrip required.
Cheers,
B.

That's what I love about this site Folks here says it likes they sees it Just what I'm looking forSnugglehose brand SUCKS. It's cut too tight, and takes A FRICKIN' HOUR TO GET ON AND OFF.
Thanks Babbette for for your straight forward opinion. Actually I hadn't thought of ResMed and the zippered approach. I take it the zipper is completely concealed when zipped up and you can't feel it?
Do you think the other pull on type covers similar to Sungl....um ah... you know who..., are as difficult to get on and off
Thanks for the links too

Re: Respironics Hose Cover Anyone?
I ended up making my own fleece cover at first - I own a sewing machine and know how to buy a yard of fleece at the local fabric store - and then after that bought a Snuggle Hose brand, just to give it a whirl and round out a cpap.com order. BLECH!!! Cheaper fleece, too tight, blech!!!
Haven't tried the other makers brands, but there are those on here who swear by them. Karen at Padacheeks has way more than half her brain working, so I'll just bet her product works good.
http://www.padacheek.com/
Bret at Pur-sleep.com has 5 kids he's supporting as a single father - buy his products.
http://www.pur-sleep.com/
http://www.pur-sleep.com/products/produ ... ategory=11
And this nice lady is selling them on Etsy:
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?li ... d=18947776
Looks like she's out of hose covers right now, but if you email her she'll probably make you one. I just love Etsy.com.....
As for the Resmed and the zipper - you know, I can't remember if it's covered, but I think it is. It doesn't bother me at all. It's kind of like a little padded nylon parka for your hose. It does make the hose a little bit noisier than the fleece would, but it doesn't bother me at all. Your Mileage May Vary.
Cheers,
Babs

More sources, just for grins:
http://cozeehose.com/orderinfo.htm
http://www.cpapsock.com/main.php
How to make your own:
Measure length of main hose.
Measure diameter of above.
Measure length of short hose(s) leading from mask to main hose.
Measure diameter of above.
Figure out the how wide to make it, based on diameter, plus 1/2 inch for stitching and turning, and then about 1/4" to 1/2" for ease of getting it on and off.
Buy as much fleece as that comes to. Pick out something you like to look at, that feels nice to the touch.
Cut rectangle. Sew long side, right sides together. Turn tube so seam is inside.
Slip hose into tube of fleece.
Attach ends of fleece to ends of hose with strips of Velcro One Wrap wrapped around the ends.
Do same for short hoses leading from mask to hose.
Wash covers by throwing them into a mesh lingerie bag and adding them to your wash. Wash like colors together - i.e., don't you come crying to me if your red fleece hose cozy bleeds pink all over your tighty whities....
Good luck!

Re: Respironics Hose Cover Anyone?
I don't ever want to see y'all's fleeces because I've got that snuggle thing and in all my ignorance I think it's A-OK... I did buy the 8 foot one so I could cut off the excess and use it for the hose hanging off the mask...
Encore Pro 1.8.49; Encore Pro Analyzer 0.8.9 by James Skinner
SnuggleHose - Got the 8 foot and cut it down to 6, used the rest for mask hoses.
Memory Foam Pillow - Cut my own out of my Tempur-pedic pillow. (works great!)
Hose Mgmt - Velcro Tie Strap

Re: Respironics Hose Cover Anyone?
what ever you get, it will eliminate having that cold plastic hose on your arm or chest.
thats worth it right there, besides helping with rainout.
i got 3 (started with a 6ft, went to 10 ft, and one for my swift lt) i thought they were great to begin with. but now after a short time you can tell they are cheaper material, and i am not sure theyd survive the washing machine. I can telll already I will be replacing them in a few months.
next time im going with pad-a-cheeks.

I have a Respironics Hose Cover, grey. Seems to do its job.
Next go round, I thinking of getting one that has a zipper....it was hard getting the cover on, and even harder to add the repti-cord to things....

try this, put some saran wrap over the end, then slip the cover on, its the rubber end that snags the material and makes it a pain to get on.

Re: Respironics Hose Cover Anyone?
Pad a Cheek sends you a little silk draw string bag to place over the rubber end of your hose so the hose cover slips right on!! Quick, easy, and No trouble at all---she makes her hose covers wider than anyone else's and it is super soft!!! It is nice to sleep with it because it it so soft and quiet. I am sold on them---no zipper needed!!! it is Generously made and priced reasonable too!! Check it out on her website --they are great products. I have the padded strap covers too for my Swift LT--she makes them in matching colors

Re: Respironics Hose Cover Anyone?
does the padded covers for the swift lt cover the back strap, that little plastic connector back there has started a sore on the back of my head, and ive been thinking about ordering a set.
Re: Respironics Hose Cover Anyone?
I have the one that has the zipper. In all honesty if I didn't have the one with the zipper I wouldn't clean my hose as often as I do. The zipper makes it that easy to get it on and off. It actually takes longer to push the hose onto my machine than it does to get the hose cover on or off.
