Dumb Question from a newbie to the site

Post by LFK797 » Tue Jan 27, 2009 9:38 pm

For about a year and a half I have been using a nasal CPAP (ResMed Mirage Swift II). After the first couple of months I was sold on this CPAP business as I felt better, had more energy, etc etc. This euphoria lasted till about this last September give or take. Now it seems all I do is fight the thing at night. The most I can get is a couple of hours sleep with it then I lay there and fuss with it until I get rid of it for the rest of the night.

My question is then, why the change? Have I started doing something different that I don't realize, or.....?

Has your weight or medication or medical health changed any?

And what kind of machine do you have... be specific... what you mentioned was a mask, not a machine??

Only dumb question is the one you don't ask....

That said, I don't use that mask so I'll leave yah to those who do....

Might help if you filled in what machine you're using, and what software you have, and your pressures to give a starting point.

other health changes? weight changes? the pressure might not be right -

might be you have other sleep disorders that didn't show up during the first sleep study -

couple here have found out later on they have leg movement problems --

you might need to go back to the doc and maybe need another sleep study

I had that happen and a pillow change got me back on track. I thought because they visually looked the same they were ok, but they were constantly springing leaks. New ones looked just like the old ones, but no more leaks. Just a thought.

I had the same situation. That's how I ended up finding this group about ten days ago. I have had some really good nights and some crummy ones since then. Kind of a trial and error with suggestions I've gotten. I have discovered that if I want to sleep at night, I should not go to Margaritaville during the day.

My first thought, as well, was that you are overdo for new pillows for your mask. The pillows may LOOK fine but they do soften and lose their ability to seal. I try to have spare new pillows around all the time.

I will call and order a new pillow since I am still using the original issue. It does leak a lot. For the other people who wondered about my machine, it is a Respironics RemStar Pro M Series. For what ever that means.

Thanx for all your help and suggestions.
