Try sleeping with your hose under the covers like I do.
I do have the old ResMed S8 Auto Set Spirit.

I already was sleeping with the hose under the covers and also have a hose cover on it. Thank you to the person who didn't dismiss my problem as just cold air. It wasn't cold at all the last two nights and I have to keep it up on 5 now, where I always kept it on one. The air is definitely colder that I'm breathing even at 5 so I suspect the heating element is going bad. I guess it will go completely bad eventually. I am a person that notices things like that immediately. For me to have to go from 1 to 5 suggests that something is going on with the unit. Also I have no water condensation at all now, where I had plenty at 1 so I would say the unit isn't getting as hot as it was. I know I'm not crazy. Thanks for the help and I might try to get Apria to order a new one for me if insurance will pay. Why they care is beyond me, they should have checked it out anyway instead of just dismissing me. I hate dealing with them, its always a problem.

How much water is left in your tank in the morning? When I was using my integrated HH it was almost empty in the AM. I used to set it at 3. I don't think mine would have made it through the night without going empty at 5.

With a setting of 5 last nite it was still half full. When I used to have it on one it would last 3 or 4 nites. I woke with a headache this morning and felt very dried out. I think I will call Apria and insist they at least check it for me. I don't want to wait until it completely konks out and have to spend any more miserable nites. I'll let everyone know what happens.

With that little water usage for the Respironics, it does sound like a humidifier problem.

Apria traded out the humidifier for a brand new one so I should be back in business tonight. I was one month from the end of the 2 year warranty so I lucked out on that. I still might ask about that bigger unit that preheats, sounds nice. Thanks to everyone for the help.

glad u got it taken care of. Sounds like Apria did make good after some gentle prodding. Touch wood, i haven't had a major problem with them yet. So far Kaiser and Apria have been pro-active in my care. Imagine that!

Sounds like you got lucky!! According to Respirionics the machine has a 2 year warrenty but the humidifier has only a 1 year warrenty and the chamber is warrentied for 90 days.

I'm wondering how you made out? Did this fix your problem? We never hear the conclusion of things.

This did indeed fix the problem. Back to a 1 or 2 setting and no headaches. The heater plate must have been not getting hot enough even at the setting of 5. Thanks again for all the comments and help.

i use a setting of 2 and i fill it completely every night, in the morning it is about 2/3rds empty, no way on 4 or 5 itd make it through the night.
and we use a whole house humidifier this time of year.
respironics missed the boat here, should have used a larger reservoir.

how old is your unit, should be a 2 year warranty, maybe your dme will take care of that for you.
