Goal is to get pressure to desired range.
Goal is to get pressure to desired range.
I have a Resmed CPAP machine currently and my sleep specialist told me the pressure should be at 12. I was previously on 10. I tried the new pressure but could not tolerate it at all. It was such a gap for me I found I could not adjust to it and even now I am only at 10.8. Why is it so hard for some of us comfortable with a new pressure setting, if it is like 2 points above the old? I have been on CPAP for 2 years

Try incrementing your pressure slowly......maybe a half to 1 cm. at a time over the period of a week. A year after I started on a pressure of 10 cm., I decided to try to take it up to 12 cm. one night. I managed to get some sleep, but I didn't sleep very well, so I know what you mean by taking a 2 cm. jump in pressure. I did better the next and subsequent nights, though. Now, 12 cm. almost feels like "nothing", but it seems to be what works well for me.janette57 wrote:I have a Resmed CPAP machine currently and my sleep specialist told me the pressure should be at 12. I can't answer the "why" - just take it easy, incrementing slowly - you'll get there.

Wow folks! I have to get to 18/10 and I'm presently at 15/9 so, I don't feel too bad about my progress in 1 week of having BiPAP machine.

Do you have the software to monitor your therapy? (I presume you have a data-capable Bi-PAP machine) That will help you so much with getting your pressures "dialed in". You might want to fill out your profile so we'll know what you have.
