Now I'm upset! I called apria and they told me I am getting the respironics model DS200s(Respironics DS200S
REMstar Plus M Series with C-Flex and SmartCard)...I was told yesterday it was the pro, now they are telling me I don't need that machine and if I did my dr. has to prescribe it on my rx!!!

I'm so tired of going back and forth with these dme's that I'm out about to give up on this cpap!

DF, DO NOT give up.
Fight the fight.
I went down the exact road you are on right now.
I was going to give in, too.....BUT, w/the help and advice from all the great folks here,
I fought for what I wanted and I got it....from Apria.

Fight the Borg!

What did you do to get the auto from apria? I was calling them now to cancel my appt. with them tomorrow, it's not worth taking a drive up there if I'm not getting what I want.

If I ask my dr. to make a new rx, what exactly would it have to say? specific machine? model?..??

I gave my doc the exact description -Respironics Mseries Auto w/aflex.
That's how the 'script reads.

Now, I would request that the 'script say, Apap of patients choice.

Either way, go for it.
Make it happen.

Disney Fan you are nearly there. I started with the Plus machine and was struggling. It was my struggling that I found this forum and learned how the "Plus" was no "Plus" so I went back to my Doctor and asked for an prescription for the Pro machine but mentioned the benefits of an Auto. I had the prescription for the Auto in my hands the next day.

If you are going Respironics you want ..

first choice: M Series Auto CPAP with Aflex (this one has everything on it)
https://www.cpap.com/cpap-machine/remst ... -flex.html

second choice: M Series Pro CPAP with Cflex
https://www.cpap.com/cpap-machine/Respi ... -CPAP.html

Humdifier - regardless of the unit they give you above, the humidifier is the same
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/respir ... ifier.html
S8 AutoSet II with H4i Humid, reader + software
M Series Auto w Aflex with HH, reader + software
IntelliPAP AutoAdjust with HH, reader + software
Mirage Liberty Full Face with Nasal Pillows and Head Gear
Pursleep, Pad A Cheeks~ :)

Hey, I liked the Auto PAP of choice option.

Really, getting the machine you want from the start will help you avoid the struggles I had .. and frequent visits to the DME.

I found Apria to be fine until I went in to pick up my "prescription", From that moment on I found them pathetically unresponsive, so I dumped them. I think once they find out you are self pay, they treat you like dirt because they know there are cheaper alternatives. Their dream patient is some who has great insurance who will just go on to their next insured malady, once they are properly fit with their equipment

NO way in Hades I would give any local DME supplier, much less Apria, my credit card number!

I know your credit card company will go to bat for you in disputes - but given the insurance supply schedules and the billing problems I've read about w/Apria .... you could be constantly in dispute!

Funny, how I just got a call from them reminding of my appt. tomorrow...I asked the person about the machines and he told me, "you can have either the pro or plus, it's up to you, they are BOTH full data capable with smart cards and we have them in stock."
He advised me that I really didn't need a full data because that is only if my doctor will be monitoring my progess.

He said I could not have the the auto -a-flex because it was not specifically prescribed on my rx and that I needed a machine that already has a set prescibred setting ....he went on saying how all cpaps are different billing codes....i hung up!

Disney Fan
It sounds exactly what I was told. The Plus only gives compliance data. The Pro does give you useful data. The Pro is tells you what you need to know. You would be okay with it, if they would give you the choice. The DME will not sell you the software and maybe not even the data card. I bought mine here at cpap.com

That's one of their tactics.......wear you down until you accept the machine THEY want to make a profit on.
Do you have your prescription (physical piece of paper)?

It's not for them to tell you which machine you do or don't "need". It's YOUR therapy and YOU will be sleeping with this stuff for many years to come. YOU should be able to select your own equipment.

There's always CPAP.COM. Many people have ordered online to avoid the hassles with the local DMEs.

Personally, neither I nor my insurance provider has ever spent a dime at a local DME for any of my equipment or supplies.

This is the same load of crap they gave me.
.....and it was THIS Wulfman that told me, FIGHT

and I did.

Talk to your doc. Tell him you want YOUR life back.
You are going to take responsibility for YOUR therapy.

Have him write a new 'script and give it to YOU.
Then go back to Apria.
They have NO choice then, except to fill the 'script.

It's YOUR life.
It's my life.
