Happy New Year & Resolutions

Post by Bonnie » Wed Dec 31, 2008 7:17 am

Wishing everyone a safe, healthy and Happy New Year. Care to share any resolutions you might be making?

Mine would include being a little more tolerent with people, except Apria, that would be impossible

Coming up with each year's New Year's resolution takes so little time. I pull it out of storage, change the year, print it and post it. I'll make a different resolution once I've mastered these. (some are mine; most are from Robert Fulghum's All I Really Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten)

RULES FOR LIVING WELL IN 2009
RULE #1: Consult brain before engaging mouth.
RULE #2: God gave us two ears and only one mouth for a reason. Listen!!
RULE #3: Thumper was right. If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.
RULE #4: Share everything.
RULE #5: Play fair. Play hard. Laugh hard. Love hard. Open your eyes. Enjoy what you see or go somewhere else.
RULE #6: Don't hit people.
RULE #7: Put things back where you found them.
RULE #8: Clean up your own mess.
RULE #9: Don't take things that aren't yours.
RULE #10: Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody.
RULE #11: Wash your hands before you eat.
RULE #12: Flush. Wash your hands after that, too.
RULE #13: Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.
RULE #14: Live a balanced life. Learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some.
RULE #15: Take a nap every afternoon.
RULE #16: When you go out in the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands and stick together.
RULE #17: Be aware of wonder. Remember the little seed in the Styrofoam cup.... the roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that.
RULE #18: Goldfish and hamsters and white mice and even the little seed in the Styrofoam cup all die. So do we.
RULE #19: Remember the Dick-and-Jane books and the first word you learned -- the biggest word of all -- LOOK.
RULE #20: Before doing anything, re-read Rule #1.

Happy New Year!!

Mine is simple...to get my health back on track, and to lose weight. I have been blessed with finding a doctor who has finally solved a good decade long problem. So things can only get better for me in 2009.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
MY TOP 3
To treasure every moment of my life.
To have no regrets.
To remember to actually look in my planner, before I plan another thing.
Life is not about the amount of breaths you take;
It's about the moments that take your breath away.

Bonnie,

Your words:

"Mine <resolution> would include being a little more tolerent with people, except Apria, that would be impossible"

gave me my first chuckle today! I have literally spent the entire day dealing with various DMEs Apria included) and I still don't have my firt machine. I was actually in tears at one point so to be able to laugh about it is a healthy way of coping and you have helped me not to take it personally or just throw in the towel!

Thanks for your well timed humor - my darling husband says I may have finally found kindred spirits...

Ditto on changing the date again this year on old intentions. Add to that a focus on all I can still do instead of what I can't, and being mindful of some life lessons from OSA, CPAP and my friends here:

Ignore a nagging suspicion will only force it to bite you in the hiney to get your attention.
Gassing up at the pump will never mean the same thing again.
Never blurt out in a crowd that your new bedtime buddy can also be battery operated.
Life has changed when putting on my hose means I'm dressing for bed instead of going out.
"What's your pressure?" beats "What's your sign?" as a conversation starter.
PadACheek is not a wad of chewing tobacco.
Guard your sleep with your life... or is it the other way around?
"Going Commando" is not always an indication of needing to do laundry.
A facial mask is for minutes, a costume mask for hours, but a good cpap mask is forever.
Strangers really can be friends we haven't met.

Happy New Year All!

Kathy

I say my usual resolutions include, be healthier, be happier, be less poor (pay off debt, save more, spend less, etc).

I guess I'm working on the first two. But, not doing so well on the last one....in addition to whatever the co-insurance will be for the CPAP and stuff, there's all the other stuff I've been buying recently....like water distiller, EncoreViewer....

Though there were other items I recently got that I had intended to get eventually, that I got now...like Night Stand and PowerSource 400, though there were other things that I got that I probably would've put off...had I known.

Like some of the stuff I ordered around Christmas....

Plus I suppose the dentist is gonna want me to pay for the fillings he put into my mouth (though I was happier before he had....)

Perhaps some day, I'll work on the getting married and having a family thing...

Happy New Year.

The Dreamer.

Mine is for a year which is dull and boring as far as health situations to be mastered.

Having cancer surgery and discovering my sleep apnea was rather more of an adventure than I was looking for last New Year's Eve!

I have multiple dreams for this year:

To finish my cook book

To get to Ireland as we were planning last year

And to achieve last year's weight loss goals which went out the window in a cocked hat with the surgery!
