Shhh... don't tell Resmed ... it's a secret
Shhh ... don't tell Resmed ... they would throw a screaming hissy fit if they knew you could actually get some useful information from their software.
The old Autosan 5.7 that is. The new Resmed 3.5 has prettier graphs but exporting data has been removed and that software really doesn't tell you very much.
If you have the old Autoscan and a recording pulse oximeter such as the CMS-50E, you can get some useful information.
I export some data from the Autoscan to an Excel spreadsheet and manually enter some info from the pulse oximeter software and get more detailed information than you can get from the software alone.
You can find out how much time you spent in apnea ... how much time in hypopnea ... the average length of apneas ... the average length of hyponeas, and from the oximeter you can find out what percentage of the time you spent below 90% saturation and how many minutes that was.
Below is an example from last nights data.

Rest easy, Velbor has been teaching me how to use the AutoScan 5.7 data in Excel for some time now. I was mucho disappointed when I discovered we lost that csv export ability w/ResScan. *sigh*
What I hadn't yet figured out how to do was to use that Excel data to make an easy to read Daily Events Per Hour table like EncorePro provides.
And then I was switched to the Resmed VPAP Auto which REQUIRES at least ResScan 3.4 and gave up on exporting to Excel (which I had never used before) to generate that table since ResScan wouldn't allow the export to Excel. *sigh*

What I want to know is the cheapest place to buy the CMS 50E COMPLETE that is also a reliable, reputable place to buy from in the USA.

I had a good experience with Southeastern Medical Supply. When my CMS 60 D seemed to have a loose connection problem, I returned it and they shipped me a replacement within days. I have had no problems with the new one.

ResMed has put the export to csv back in the program with ResScan 3.7Slinky wrote:I was mucho disappointed when I discovered we lost that csv export ability w/ResScan. *sigh*

Began CPAP on Jul 22, 2008. Split Night Study failed to get a good titration pressure. Titrated (2 week home APAP) at 10. Currently using APAP at 13-15. Not using Humidifier. Even with SA under control, still can't sleep all night!
Re: Shhh... don't tell Resmed ... it's a secret
Mucho thanks, OuttaSync and TXNative. The info is greatly appreciated. I found the CMS 50E complete for sale for $188 at http://www.clinicalguard.com/oximeters- ... -p-89.html but I don't know how reliable or reputable they are.

The CSV export in ResScan 3.7 is for summary data only.txnative wrote:ResMed has put the export to csv back in the program with ResScan 3.7
The CSV export function in Autoscan 5.7 was for detailed data.

$179, is that a good price. Looks like a reputable outfit. http://www.echostore.com/wireless-oximeter-cms50e.html
I wish I knew about this before I bought mine. One day I will hang myself with that dang wire.

Thanks, Ed. I was just searching for the old posts. I "thought" that someone had had a problem w/echostore and was hoping to find that thread tp be sure or to be comfortable buying from them.

True, but at least 3.7 will export usage time, Avg Pres, AI, HI and leak which is what most people plot.billbolton wrote:The CSV export in ResScan 3.7 is for summary data only.txnative wrote:ResMed has put the export to csv back in the program with ResScan 3.7

Would be nice to have everything, but

Re: Shhh... don't tell Resmed ... it's a secret
The CSV exported data from Autoscan is like this....Arizona-Willie wrote:You can find out how much time you spent in apnea ... how much time in hypopnea ... the average length of apneas ... the average length of hyponeas
Time of Event Event Type Event Duration
5:43:00 AM Hypopnea 0
5:44:00 AM Hypopnea 0
5:53:00 AM Hypopnea 0
6:02:00 AM Hypopnea 0
6:03:00 AM Apnea 10
6:03:00 AM Apnea 15
6:03:00 AM Apnea 11
6:46:00 AM Hypopnea 0
6:49:00 AM Hypopnea 0
... that is, it only shows an actual duration for apnea events, not for hypopnea events. So how do you meaningfully determine an how much time in hypopnea or average length of hypopneas based on the CSV data?
Cheers,
Bill

Re: Shhh... don't tell Resmed ... it's a secret
Mr. Bolton .. I tried to attach the spreadsheet to a PM but found you can't attach things here. Boooooooo
Here is a pic of page one of the spreadsheet. The actual formula you are interested in is a ratio between the AI and the total time and the HI and the total time ( as I remember it ... been awhile ). It seems to work fine as long as there is at least one apnea. If zero apneas you run into the famous divide by zero error. Otherwise it's good.
I'm a poor spreadsheet writer. I try one thing and then another and kinda jump around so my page two of the spreadsheet is somewhat disorganized and difficult to follow and the formulas make several references to different places so it doesn't work to just enter the formula here.. that would be way to simple.
If you pm me your email I can attach a copy of the spreadsheet.
I export from Autoscan 5.7 to a file called apnea count and then copy and paste some of that info into page two of the spreadsheet. On page one I manually enter info which you can see about the time and AI etc. and also some from my pulse oximeter.
Results as shown.
