rested gal, do you still use a separate humidifer for your pb420e, or did you get an integrated one. If so, which do you prefer. Thanks

I don't have my PB 420E. I gave it to a friend who needed that specific machine. When I had the 420E, I was using a separate humidifier with it...the Fisher and Paykel HC 150 heated humidifier. Worked great.
Someday I expect to get another 420E. Will used the separate humidifier again. The fact that the controls for the integrated humidifier for the 420E are at the rear doesn't appeal to me. I'll just keep using the separate F&P humidifier when I get another 420E.

I got the integrated humidifier for my 420E after it came out. Until then I was using the Fisher Paykel humidifier. Only problem I had with the PB humidifier was the tank was very difficult to remove at first. But if you wiggle it back and forth it will come out easier and easier until you can just pull it straight back with no problem at all. You can remove the tank from the metal base with your fingers instead of the tool they include.
I had to send my 420 in for repair and accidentally left the tube that connects the unit to the humifier and they lost it, so my DME gave me a short tube like the Fisher-Paykel humidifier uses and it has worked. So I'll use that until the DME or cpap.com gets that part in and I can replace it.

At high altitude (6,000 feet) it didn't work the second night .never went above 4. I didn't know this until I got home and saw the data. I felt lousy every morning, had a headache, just like without CPAP. When I got home, it started making weird noises, like the motor revving. I would turn it off and then on several times and then it would quit and be okay. But I took it in the next day to the DME. They couldn't find anything wrong with it and finally sent it back to PB about a month later. During this time I had an OLD Remstar loaner that looked like a Silo and weighed about 10 pounds. It is also when I bought myself a second 420E as a backup. PB replaced the old machine with a new one within a week.
