Weird Blower Hours Issue

Post by CollegeGirl » Sun Dec 07, 2008 6:58 pm

Okay, so - I hardly ever download smartcard data or look at my machine hours anymore. Nothing ever changes with my treatment, lol, so - I just check it every few months or so to make sure everything's kosher.

Well, I went to check my machine hours, because I thought I should be getting close to 10,000, and hmmm...it says 1102.6! Uhmmm....yeah. I've had this machine since August of 05, and only missed one night, ever - so...what's going on?

Just to verify, I checked my smartcard, and all the data there is normal/intact. The card itself has more than a year's worth of data on it, and about 3,000 hours.

My only thought was that maybe once it hits 10,000 it rolls back over again, but I don't remember anyone else posting about that before. Anyone?

That might just be.... kind of like odometers on cars. You could get a fairly decent estimate by putting a 1 in front of that number, then dividing by the average number of hours you sleep a night. It would be rough, but if it came out to close to the number of nights you've been using the machine, that is likely the answer.

Well, assuming you had about 8 hours of use every night, I would make a wild guess: It actually rolled over after about 8000 hours, or because of a software glitch after 8192 hours. Is that close?

My old Sullivan V was on it's third trip around the 10,000 hour limit when I finally put it in the closet for a well deserved rest. It did have a 9,999 hour max.

Thanks, guys Yeah, feelingbetter, it's actually more like 3 years and 3 months.

So I think 11002 hours could very well be right. WOW. That's a lot of CPAP hours! Especially when you consider the fact this is my second machine. lol (First one only lasted about four months before it got traded for this APAP).

The Golden Blower Awards!

(imagine the following gilded, in honor of one of the very first experimental cpap devices, made from a vacuum cleaner motor)

Hahaha, thanks bookbear, and thanks to you too, Echo.

There are those on this forum to whom 10,000 hours seems like "just starting out." lol. I still feel like I am - I still have so much to learn. Like good sleep hygiene. I need to go to bed earlier!
