Any suggestions for my mask? I have a mirage quattro that consistently bruises my forehead. It really hurts! Can I pad it with something to help? I've tried loosening it, but I loose my seal at that point. I wear a small, and probably need an extra- small to get a good fit. I'm going to try one when it's time for a new mask.
Can you get me through a couple of months with some tips to cushion my forehead?
Thanks!
Somer

Re: mirage quattro bruises my forehead
Welcome to the forum.
If that mask is bruising your forehead, you have it way too tight. Do you have the adjustment dial turned all the way to the right? (puts the support in the full, upright position) These types of masks seal better when they're not so tight. Getting them too tight crushes the seal. The seal needs to inflate. This is also presuming that you have the proper size mask.
Another thing that can affect the mask seal is the bed pillow. There are a number of pillows that are either designed for use with XPAP equipment or are more adaptable to it.
Another thing that needs to be done with the Quattro is to do the "Teflon tape fix" to the elbow in the front of the mask. If it's not done, it'll feel like the mask is leaking EVERYWHERE.

Somer,
One of our members has designed a forehead pad that works wonderfully. See http://www.padacheeks.com/PAC_Nosebridge.html
It also protects the bridge of the nose.

RUN.....don't walk to your computer and place your order.
It will totally change the comfort of this mask.
.....and if you want to remove the cold, medical, machine feel of
your system, get a Padacheek hose cozy. I don't route my hose overhead,
and deal w/it throughout the night,
the cozy makes it so much more comfortable.
.....run along now......

And I ditto CM's recommendation of padacheeks for any mask! The comfort factor is remarkable, not to mention that they pretty much take care of face marks.carbonman wrote:

Re: mirage quattro bruises my forehead
Thanks for all of the info! I had no idea that there were CPAP message boards! Wish I'd known about you in May when I got it! I am on my 3rd mask. I actually like it, but it's not perfect for me. I have a small face, and most of the masks are large on me. I need to read more of your posts to see what other products I could buy to improve my sleep!
Thanks again...
