Seems good
One other local hosehead I know swears by it. I was going to buy one until I was seduced by the ResMed Activa on my titration night.
Let us know how it goes

Well, the Flexifit 405 didn't do well with me. I'm so dissappointed. I LOVE the mask, it's super quiet and I feel I can breathe so much easier with it, but when I woke a few hours after putting it on and sleeping, my skin around my nose where the mask laid was burning badly. I think maybe I am allergic to the rubber/plastic that it's made of. Thats all I can figure. It was terrible. Sucks so much because otherwise, I was so pleased with it. I just can't handle that burning though. I am thinking much longer in the mask and it would have just started blistering my skin. Thats how it felt.
Now I am just wondering if I should clean the mask well, my face also, in case I had something on my face that made that reaction. I know a while before I put the mask on last night, I had wiped my face with a blemish face cleansing cloth. Maybe that could have been the problem? Didn't seem to matter with my other mask, but perhaps it does with this new one. Any thoughts from anyone about this? I may just have to sell the mask. It is so nice, surely somebody would want it.
Please feel free to give me advice and/or tips about anything I might could do. I appreciate it so much.
P.S. I JUST remembered something!!! After the cleansing cloth (last night) I actually DID do something I usually don't do. My face still felt like it may be oily/shiny, so I wiped my face down with some alcohol. That probably caused the problem, right??? I sure hope so, that would mean I COULD use my new, nice mask! Why didn't I remember that before now??? Geeesh...

ALCOHOL!!! That is one of the taboos that "they" say never to use on the "rubber" parts of your mask. It can do something to the rubber (not to mention, burn the hell out of your poor skin). Also, they always talk about using MILD soap to wash your mask with, like a baby shampoo or something that doesn't have scents or anti-bacterial agents in it.
I will almost guarantee you that it was the alcohol IN COMBINATION with your blemish cloth that caused that burning sensation. They don't make masks out of latex anymore, so it is, in all probablility, unlikely that you reacted to this mask's seal as opposed to any other you've tried so far. I almost hate to mention this because it can hurt a bit to take off in the AM, but Dr. Scholl's mole skin can help if you put a small piece under where your mask bothers you. I even used it to try to create a seal in certain areas that would leakwhen I was on the Activa, and most times it helped.
So if you really like this new mask and can breathe with it and it doesn't leak, etc., don't give up after the first night. Clean it tonight with a MILD soap, and your face, too (not supposed to use anything on your face where it will come in contact with the mask, including moisturizers), and fadiddle with the mole skin or maybe even try to loosen the straps a tiny bit to help.
Let me know how you made out. I hope tonight will be a great night for you. If nothing else, we learn that with cpap/accessories, things rarely are perfect the very first time we try them. Keep smiling.

Thanks Lori!
I know, I feel so stupid now for using the alcohol. At the time, for some reason, I never gave my mask a thought. I had even forgot at bedtime that I even HAD used it. I'm slapping myself... LOL!
I will certainly try again tonight with the new mask. I'll clean it and make sure my face has NOTHING on it. I am sure that will solve the problem. I'm thrilled that I most likely can use my new mask with no problems. That burning was the only problem I had with it.
Now where's my 'stupid' sign....... LOL

Cushions tend to interact to natural facial oils, so be sure to wash your face each night before use. Your seal and comfort can be compromised if cushions acquire build up on the cushion surface. For those with sensitive skin, it is a good idea to soak ANY new mask you use for 30-60 minutes in mild soapy water
I did it, and it helped. I'm sure this is valid for any mask, and hose. There may be production residues on the mask.

I wouldn't use them, unless you rinse very well afterward. Otherwise you'd be leaving soap on the mask, which could deteriorate over time.So would wiping masks' with baby wipes be bad? I guess they have moisturizers in them. I've used them several times.

Fairspirit,
Don't feel stupid. We are all getting used to new routines/way of life with new equipment, etc. If we did the right thing all the time, then I'd be scared. That's the beauty of this site. If you're not sure what you did or if what you are doing is right or wrong, there are so many wonderful people here to lead you down the right path.
I wish you the best night's sleep tonight with your new mask. Let me know how it worked out.
