Variable Breathing always 60%+ - Concerned
Re: Variable Breathing always 60%+ - Concerned
Doh! I had totally forgotten about "cold duck" yeahhhhhh!! hee hee, just trading one addiction in for another. Only problem, you can't really take cold duck to work with you, or keep it in your car for those long drives. (I'm on the "chocolate cure" at the moment, actually).
And thanks for the info on the sleep center vs. sleep lab - I hadn't realized that there was such a distinction.
ps. sorry for another hijacking of your thread browser, it was not MY intention. blame it on THEM.

Well, you certainly don't have to hit SAG over the head with an old BiPAP S-T/D 30 before he realizes the error of his ways! You've certainly shown him how irritating the use of third person can be!Browser wrote:Browser NEVER has malware issues although he has fixed many of these issues in his career and EVERY issue Browser EVER fixed concerning malware...
So, effective immediately, SAG will go straight to "Fifth Person" and become

Now, he certainly realizes how his new name may be difficult to employ in everyday forum banter, so if one chooses to use his material in "quotes", one should employ the term "Symbol" in the following manner:
Or, alternatively, "The Poster Formerly Known As SAG", or simply, "The Poster" will suffice.Symbol wrote:yada, yada, yada...

Aromatherapy may help CPAP compliance. Lavender, Mandarin, Chamomile, and Sweet Marjoram aid in relaxation and sleep. Nature's Gift has these and a blend of all four called SleepEase.
Re: Variable Breathing always 60%+ - Concerned
For some reason I found that funny . SAG is now the "Fifth Element".
Last night set pressure to 16.5 straight CPAP and CFLEX of 2, I chose 2 because the few VB nights I had in the 25% range cflex was set at 2. So look at this

Browser is just sharing. Browser is hoping that something will come out in the near future that may explain the high VB.

Yikes! That's about an 84% VB rate.
Browser, did you notice the sleep session feeling any worse or better? Any shorter or longer wake times than usual?

Hi SWS - All I can think of is my wife said one of the kids was sick last night and was up a lot in our room and on the toilet. I do not recall at all. My wife said she was tossing and turning a lot and one kid was in our bed. We finally got the youngest out of our bed months ago and for the last few weeks a different kid has been creeping into our bed at night. I also had a bad dream.-SWS wrote:Yikes! New split night sleep study next wednesday night. This should be a better study because they let me come in around midnight so I can go to sleep when I normally do and they let me sleep in. The last one had me come in around 8PM and then kicked me out around 6AM. They wanted to just do a titration but I insisted on needing a diagnostic evaluation since my last good one was 1999. For some reason my chest feels heavy today like it has fluid in it. Not sure why but I am beginning to think my bad allergies have turned into some asthma. Maybe that could explain the high VB%. Of course I went to see my primary and get this, he said he thought the lumps I "think" I feel are just gas, I don't know how gas can be a knot and I mentioned the feeling of a sudden shortness of breath and he said anxiety and that I was fine and needed to quit worrying about things... He didn't listen to my heart or lungs. This is why I have a problem with Doctors. They always take the easy answer and until you fall over or something is obvious they blow you off. I am on the verge of finding another Doctor. Then the next day I get a letter from the Dr. office and it is a bill for $10 for missing an appointment in September and it has PLEASE! handwritten on it real big. I paid the $10 when I was there the day before and I know the letter was sent before that but I really don't appreciate the attitude.

I have never had a GP office visit my entire life when the doctor failed to get the stethoscope out to listen to my heart and lungs.Browser wrote:I went to see my primary and get this, he said he thought the lumps I "think" I feel are just gas, I don't know how gas can be a knot and I mentioned the feeling of a sudden shortness of breath and he said anxiety and that I was fine and needed to quit worrying about things... I would jettison that doctor so fast...

Browser,
I just posted this link to a doc worth reading, into OuttaSync's (Bev's) thread but am sure you would find it worth a read.

Really! Maybe it is a regional thing because this Dr. and my previous Dr. as a rule do not listen to the heart and lungs unless it is a physical. I should have asked him to listen to my lungs. They feel heavy today and I have coughed some flem. I hope the new study provides some good information.-SWS wrote: I have never had a GP office visit my entire life when the doctor failed to get the stethoscope out to listen to my heart and lungs.

Re: Variable Breathing always 60%+ - Concerned
Browser, I've been having this same problem too. Always thought it was the smoking but even today, after 1 week of nosmo-king (yippie) this morning I woke up with a really heavy chest, and really dry mouth/throat (with bad taste). Either I am blowing out the tape and somehow it's resealing itself in the morning so I don't notice it, OR the GERD is getting into my lungs and causing both the dry/nasty mouth and the heavy chest. And I was also very pleghmy. The GERD was really acting up yesterday due to the antiboitics I'm taking. Anyway for whatever that's worth. It's an idea -SWS was bouncing around in one of my "i feel like crap" threads, and your situation started to sound similar to mine, so I thought I'd mention it.Browser wrote:Really! Also, I wouldn't underestimate the (unconscious) arousals you're getting due to sick kids, early morning alarms, etc. Is it possible that you guys change your sleeping arrangements for a few days (wife sleeps with the kids, you take a kids' room, etc?) to see if the quietness will make a difference? Have you tried sleeping with earplugs and an eye mask? Sorry if this was already covered, I'm just trying to brainstorm here....

Well, maybe that's the way it used to be when I was a teen or younger. It sure wouldn't be the first time my apnea-fried brain played cruel tricks with my memory.Browser wrote:Really! But I have been a hypertension patient since early adulthood. So I bet I always receive the stethoscope examonation on that basis. Still, I think your doctor should have listed to your heart and lungs based on your complaints. I'm not thrilled with him either...
Re: Variable Breathing always 60%+ - Concerned
Thanks for the reply echo and -SWS. Well I have been smokeless free since last Wednesday so CONGRATS to us echo. I have never had trouble quitting echo. The issue is the starting again months later when the guys around me open a can of the mint skoal that I love so much.
I hate to bring this up so late but I want to set the record straight. Not sure if I brought this up or not earlier in this thread because I don't want to read it all.
Sorry -SWS for forgetting this - I remember before this last bout with the funny feelings in the chest and phlegm, I ate chips and salsa close to bed time and fell asleep on the sofa and woke up choking. I do take Nexium so it didn't burn or anything like it would in the past but it was stomach contents that I had choked on and inhaled. I forgot about it and didn't mention it to the Dr.. So maybe that is the reason for the feeling I am having bronchial spasms and the phlegm and the super high VB%. Maybe I am still "puking" acid in my sleep and don't know it. I figured the Nexium was taking care of this problem.
So last night I had a little lower AHI and a VB% in the 70%+ range.
I am starting a new thread. I want to THANK -SWS for sticking with me even though SNOREDOG went and deleted all of his previous posts trying to help me out. Jury is still out on SAG but I haven't given much for him to comment more about. I am beginning to appreciate his sense of humor more except when I don't get it. I wonder if the PSG will show if I am having reflux arousals? Is that possible? PLEASE REPLY IN NEW THREADviewtopic/t36784/DISCUSSION-ON-HIGH-VB- ... lyzer.html
