Well i had my 2 studies done a few months ago and got my machine just never really looked at the results. Finally decided i would post them up.
Results
Total sleep time is 161.5 minutes with supine time of 113 minutes and side time of nine minutes. Sleep efficiency is 40% which is markedly reduced. Latency to sleep onset is 28 minutes. Stage I sleep 9.9%, stage II 82%, stage III 8%, and stage IV 0%, and REM sleep is 0%
The patient had a periodic limb movement index of 20.4. He had a total of 168 apneas and hypopneas with an apnea-hypopnea index of 62.41. Lowest saturation was 67%. Snoring was observed with an intestity of 5 out of 10(tell that to my gf)
Impression
Severe obstructive sleep apnea with apnea-hypopnea index of 62.4
Titration Study
Results
CPAP was initiated at 6 cm water pressure and increased to a final pressure of 15 cm water pressure. His apnea-hypopnea index during this study was on an average 18. Lowest oxygen saturation 90%; mean saturation 96%. He slept both supine, side, and prone posistions. He had a good sleep efficiency during the study with a 94% sleep efficiency, and a REM sleep of 24% which is also a good rebound.
Impression
My assessment at this time is severe obstructive sleep apnea. Recommend CPAP of 15 cm water pressure. Also recommend continued attempts to lose weight
OK...well now i have a few questions. I have gotten my CPAP and tried 2 different masks. I had a Mirage Quattro which was working well as far as I was starting to feel results but after 2 weeks i had an open sore on the bridge of my nose. I talked to my DME and he sent me home with a Liberty. I cannot get this thing to stop leaking without taking silicon nose plugs and forcing the nose parts further up and closer to my nose. So first things first any one have any tips on how to stop some of the leaking?
Also when i look at my results and they say Apnea-Hypopnea Index of 62.41 what does that mean? Is that as bad as it sounds or am I just over reacting in thinking my sleep apnea was alot worse then I originally thought? Also what does the periodic limb movement mean? Obviously i know that it means I'm moving a limb but is that number bad?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...you guys seem to have a great community here and I"m really glad already I found this site

Hi. Don't know what you thought ahead of time, but that low oxygen in the diagnostic study would be enough to make anyone sit up and take notice. The apnea-hypopnea index is an average per hour of the number of events. It's likely some hours were more and some less, which is probably spelled out in the report. About the limb movements, sometimes they are a part of the body's struggle to resume breathing and resolve with cpap treatment. Other times they can be a separate disorder. What did the titration study say about limb movements?
Hope someone can jump in and give you some mask suggestions. I've used nasal pillows since an ill fitting nasal mask gave me a pressure sore. Hope you work things out soon.

Re: Sleep Study Results
PLM in titration study was less...12.5% so maybe with treatment that won't be an issue. As for the nasal mask, I've always been slightly congested my whole life. Don't know if it's allergies or just my body but I used to blame it on me being smoker. I quit five months ago and still the same so I thought that I couldn't use a nasal mask. Plus I"m a really, really bad mouth breather. Thanks for the response!

Regarding the Quattro, that is what I am using. Have you tried adjusting the knob at the top some to take pressure off the bridge of the nose? I know I've had to find that sweet spot to get mine to fit both on the bridge of my nose and the chin area, but I also realize that every face is different, so that doesn't mean it will work for you. Last night I achieved the best fit yet with hardly any strap marks in the morning, so it might also have a "break in" period. I do think that a FFM seems like the best option for you. For sinus congestion have you tried saline irrigation before bedtime?
It does appear that your SA is severe, so I pray you find a mask that works well for you.

I tried everything with the Quattro...I even ordered the Padacheek thing and that helped tons with the forehead but i would still wake up every morning with a giant red spot on the bridge of my nose. I work retail and it's just embarassing selling someone a $5000 tv when it looks like you got into a bar fight the night before. During my sleep study i used a Respironics Comfort Full Medium and that was the best night of sleep I've had in years. I'm still trying to find somewhere i can try it for a night or two without having to buy it.
