blowing bubbles while sleeping

Post by jin-chin_deb » Tue Nov 25, 2008 5:13 pm

I am new to the CPAP world and I have an issue. I an blowing bubbles in my sleep. I try to keep my mouth shut for the nasal mask but the forced air causes me to make popping noises with my mouth. Any suggestions??

You need a full face mask to prevent oral misbehavior. If you use a nasal mask and leak or breathe through your mouth, the machine is often not able to remain the prescribed pressure. Your airway collapses and you are still experiencing apneas.

About 40% of cpap patients require a full face mask for these reasons.

I see Mr. Rooster has gone over to the dark size... the full face side.

You see jin-chin_deb, some people use a nasal mask, combined with tape to keep their mouth shut, to avoid the air-escaping trick. (Rooster used to tape until the full face squad nabbed him ).

Mouth taping isn't for everyone, especially if you're the congested or claustrophobic sort of person, or if you have other medical issues.

So, it's always good to find a good full face mask that will work for you.

Huh! I thought the Hybrid had been around as long as you had, I mean since the invented fire, oops I mean as long as Slinky has been around OK sorry that's me talking after getting a total of 6 hours sleep for the last two nights. I'm a bit wired.
The Hybrid's next on my list. I'm Xmas shopping for myself in a week or two (3 french Hybrids, 2 turtle Quattro's, and ooooone goooooolden Liberty).

p.s. original poster: the Hybrid, Liberty, and Quattro, (as well as the Ultra Mirage FFM) are all very popular full-face masks. There are others too.

Echo me luverly mouth taping gets to be a PITB after about 3 months of it

Some may hang out for 6 months & the masochists for 12 - but most give it up & go F/F in the end

Nay Ho Ma (or is it Ni Hau ?)

If you have a respironics machine & are using C-Flex, set C-Flex to 1 & the 'mouth pops' may go away :0

Yar Yar I totally agree. Though call me a masochist, I've been doing it ~15 months now with some periods in between on the UMFF. I'm so ready to toss the UMFF. The taping wouldn't be such a big issue for me if I could just manage a normal YAWN with it

I'm waiting on my xmas present of many FFMs then I TOO WILL GO ALL THE WAY
