what machine do i have?

Post by ofarchesandants » Sat Nov 22, 2008 12:31 pm

OK sorry for all the posts but i've become addicted to this forum in the past few days as i've finally started having some success which is all due to this forum and not my providers or DME.

Anyway as i look at the choices of machines in my setup menu, i'm cofused. There are so many words for each name and all list some characteristics but even my manuals all say a slightly different thing. How do i tell for sure? I have a respironics system, that much i know. Then one manual says "REMstar Auto M series" on the cover but inside the cover it says the same with the addition of "with C-Flex". Ok i know i have that too and even know i have my cflex set at 3 though to be honest with the massive flux of info i'm getting, plus the sleep deprivation i have, some days i remember what the hell cflex is and some days i don't. ;o) Today is the latter. Inside the cover it also says "Whisper Swivel. Encore Pro and Encore Pro SmartCard are trademarks of Respironics" So does that mean i have all that or is it listed just so they can save money on printing by including several slightly varied machines in one booklet? I know there is some kind of card sitting in my machine. Is it safe to pull it out and look at it without fear of corrupting data? OK and finally I have another booklet that says "M Series Heated Humidifier". I know i've got that too, now between all that and all the slightly varied names in my profile setup, i don't know if i pick a name that is slightly different or doesn't have all the same words or same order, have i supplied everyone with erroneous info or are there multiple ways of naming the same thing or??

I'm way, way into information overload at this point but any help would be appreciated none the less.
cheers,
gregg )

Words are cheap so they use a lot of them, If you have a "M"eries APAP, it has C-Flex (A comfort Feature), so you have a "M" series APAP w/CFlex. Jim

From your description of your machine I would say it is on the drop down list as a: M Series Auto CPAP Machine with C-Flex.

Forget the paper work and look at your xpap. The name ought to be right there on the machine and if it is indeed an M series auto w/ c-flex it will look like the pic below.

The slotted card is what your card reader will translate to your computer. You can remove it any time, but doing it in the middle of a night when you want it to be recording that night's stats is obviously not a great idea. Everything you wrote sounds exactly right for what it should be - each component makes sense in context with the others and they all add up to an excellent and complete system. Use the manual to help you incorporate each part of the machine as it's laid out and keep the software business separate (except for the card being in the machine to record stats, of course). Just take each thing one at a time and follow the directions. There don't appear to be any 'aliases' used to describe anything. The machine's name is complex as it describes its various features. If you don't actually have the software and/or card reader then you don't, but their names are just written there to show what the pkge should look like (if you choose to get that too). Whisper Swivel is just a trade name .. ignore it.

Woaaah, hold on now. NOT exactly true. If you're old enuff to remember floppy drives? Treat the smartcard like that. While you don't have to turn the machine power off, you should not remove the card when the machine is writing to it or you will corrupt the data. It doesn't damage the card just the data. There is no sense removing it just to look at it. You will cause yourself more grief. And we will have to hire someone just to answer your posts

I have No slots on my card, so can't help with those.
