Still sleepy but I don't care...

Post by fortomorrow » Fri Nov 14, 2008 5:07 pm

I've been on CPAP for over two months, although I only count a month of that time - from when I got my Auto.

I'm still tired most of the time, despite an AHI that is consistenly under 2. Last night my AHI was 0.3 and I still feel like I could have a bit of a nap right now.

BUT. I'll take being sleepy because I appear to have got my brain back. I'm thinking 100x faster than I was two months ago. The fog is gone!

Sadly, this means my job is now 100x more boring than it previously was. And it was already pretty darn boring to start with.
Have you always wanted to try the Liberty? Test drive it here!

Hey -- at least you have a job to be bored with. My last one went to India 18 months ago, and I'm still trying to find something to do!!!

I too have those days of being tired, but like you say, it's not nearly as bad as before. It took a lot of years to be diagnosed, so I don't expect any miracles and I certainly feel a lot better than I did before.
I found that going to the APAP mode and using a "reasonable" range has helped me greatly. I spent a year at 10, with excellent AHI numbers but was tired all the time so I decided to experiment and tried a range of different pressures and have settled on 11-15. When I set it for 11-15 my feeling tired has diminished a lot, so I tried 10-15 and though I spend a lot of time at 10, my tired feeling came back, sooooooo, I changed it back to 11-15 and so far it's been working.
All that said, you may want to experiment with some pressure ranges around the pressures you are using now. Keep an eye on your 90% pressure and in my opinion, try to keep it in the middle of the range (at least that's what works for me)......

Keep at it -- sounds like you're doing better.
Take care
cheers

You know, getting rid of the fog was one of the first things I noticed when I started therapy...and that was only 3 weeks ago. I am still tired, but I figure it this way, I've not been sleeping properly for probably 20 years...that means I could probably sleep for 20 years straight and that would pay off the overdue sleep. I would still need more sleep to stay even.

The brain fog lifting is a wonderful feeling. Isn't great to still be able to think clearly at 2 in the afternoon? And it's not because you took an hour nap at noon?
