Encore Pro software question

Post by sleepytexan » Sun Nov 09, 2008 6:59 am

Hi,

I am new to this software. Every time I download my info from the card it makes a separate file so that when I go to make a detailed report, I can only use that download or previous downloads. I would like to merge the data so I can get one report from all downloads. Can this software do this? I have tried several things like exporting the patient and then importing into a new patient but the export does not work for some reason. I also know that I can get a summary report of all the info but I need the detailed report. Does anyone have some insight into this? I would like to post a cumulative report and get some feedback.

Thanks in advance,
Doug

Encore Pro, by default, erases all data each time card is read. You need to go to "Preferences" then "System Settings" and check the box to"Prompt to keep all compliance data....." It will then ask you if you want to erase or not.

Yep, I was afraid of that. I will change the settings. Is there anything I can do with the information I have already downloaded to get that cumulative report?

Encore Pro Analyzer... a downloadable software that jskinner wrote can do the 1 report for all downloads (in detail). Encore Pro can't.

Thanks for the reply, I will look into that. In the meantime, does anyone know if I can still combine the data somehow to get the cumulative report in Encore Pro?

Combining reports in Encore Pro:

You can take your full detail reports and print them in .pdf format. Then with
Adobe Acrobat PRO, you can then make them into a combined .pdf of the files
you want included. The free version of Adobe Acrobat however doesn't support
this, only the pro version.

There are other .pdf programs that are free that may be able to do this too.
I copy my downloaded Dallies onto my desktop and recombine them into
months for archive. Jim

Thanks for the reply. I guess I am looking for more of a technical answer like how to combine the data within the database. I know enough to be dangerous but not enough to figure it ALL out....

Hi SleepyTexan,

No, you cannot combine the data within the database. The PDF reports are not stored that way - only produced when downloaded or after. If you double-click on your "patient name" in the EncorePro screen, if your data has been saved, it will show up as one line for each download. This is stored in a SQL Server database. If you use the "export" feature to export your detail data to an XML file, you'll see that the data is extremely detailed. There are hundreds (or more) records for one night.

So you have two primary options if you want to do something like combine the data:

1. Use EncorePro Analyzer
2. Write your own programs

Edited to note: if I remember correctly, you can use EncorePro Analyzer to export data, too -- and in a better format.

Note that option 2 is not trivial (I've been a programmer for years).

(My profile shows the Sandman Auto but I used the Respironics Auto M-Series with EncorePro for over a year).

First you would need to write your own database software, then you would have to write a program like Encore Pro, only better, you might want to pack a lunch.

James Skinners program will give you graphs of multiple downloads from the Encore Pro data base, all in a neat tidy package. Jim

Thanks you guys for the feedback. Hearing it from a programmer will stop me from beating my head against the wall. I did use James Skinner's software to create a detailed report which I posted in another post for some feedback.

Posting the Dailies, give us the best picture of what's happening and when. In James Skinners program I find the time spent in Apnea and the Avg length of Apnea to be the most useful, they tell you how long you were without O2. Jim

Well.... not exactly. When I re-installed Encore Pro, I set up SQL Server with my own password and to allow external connections. I then created a new database in Access linking the SQL tables. To ensure I don't overwrite the original tables I automated Access to copy the data into local tables. I began to determine which data fields I need then got busy with other things - like trying to get a job (sigh).

My purpose is to "manage" my data and seek correlations that may or not exist. I have been looking over the raw events and see the garbage in the first and last 30 minutes or obvious events like when I pull the mask off the sneeze (I HATE that!). In business analysis I drop off the few high and low anomalies as I don't want decisions influenced by exceptions, and that's what I intend to do here.

Yes, I looked at the option of using Access as a front-end for SQL Server but decided it would still take a good deal of time to decipher the details!
