Help with S8 Elite II machine

Post by pcathcart » Mon Nov 03, 2008 7:56 am

I need some help and, as has been an often occurrence over the last week, I came hear to ask y'all...

I noticed this morning when I was getting ready for work, that although i had pressed the stop button, disconnected the hose and mask and emptied the water reservoir, the machine still had air pushing through it. It was not a lot of air and not moving fast, but there was air flowing through the machine.

I don't know if this has been happening throughout the few days I have been using it or not, but I just noticed it today...

Any help is, as always, appreciated...

Phil

I have the same machine and have noticed a light flow of air when not in use. I unplug mine everyday because I was concerned that it would read incorrectly on the ResScan Data Card. I'm new at all this, so I'm sure there is more knowledge out there!

Mine always has a light flow of air coming out too but it does NOT affect the data in any way. Nothing is shown for usage except for when I turn it on at night. So don't worry about unplugging it.

ResMed machines are supposed to do that. They continue blowing a low pressure for quite awhile after you turn the blower off.

Yep, my machine has the same behavior. I also noticed when it stops blowing if I access the menu system it starts blowing very gently again. Perhaps to assist with airing out the machine in the morning? <shrug>

It's to help dry out the hose.

I just got my S8 Elite II yesterday, and my clinician said the blower runs for 20 - 30 minutes after use, so if you notice it after that 30 minutes, something could be going wrong.

I love this little machine, but the accessories are a killer. My insurance said they won't cover the software, so I'm just copying out the readout info every morning into a notebook. My supplier wanted $450 for the software and card reader, so I'm saving to buy it online somewhere. By mid-2011, at the rate I'm going.

Try this site....

http://www.cpapaustralia.com.au/shoppin ... combo.html

Lists at AUD $200, so even with postage to Canada its going to be a lot less than CAD $450. Even though the listing is for ResScan 3.3, I'm sure they will supply ResScan 3.5.... you can email and ask.

Cheers,

Bill
