Curiosity Thread - Data check frequency?

Post by kteague » Thu Oct 23, 2008 10:49 am

Just curious - how often do you check your data and has that significantly changed since you first had access to it?

Every morning.

And, taking into consideration that I've been doing this since the very beginning of my therapy....."Yes", things have changed.

I check my data every morning as well. I had been at the same settings since I started using the card and software in February. Things were okay but I felt they could be better. With the help of people on this forum, I reset my pressure range in early April and things got a lot better.

I still like to see the data every day but I have also set up a 7 day check that I do each weekend to be able to quickly see any trends. I also do a graph every 2 weeks for another check!

I'm retired so have the time to do this. I keep telling myself I will start just doing the 7 day one and the 2 week graph only but, I still like to see what happened during the night every morning.

I attempt to download every seven days, so I can make a month long .pdf of my Daily Details to archive. I don't have a problem with the "M"eries lost data, as I use the better model, Classic. My problem comes from the operator forgetting to take the card to the computer. There"s no reliable fix for that either. Jim

Whenever it occurs to me. Recently I've noticed my smart card only holds a week's worth of data, however. So, I'm trying to download at least once a week.

Cheers,
Barbara

I check my data and download it everymorning, since starting cpap over a year ago, my pressure has risen from a 9 to as high as a 15 but my data stays/reads about the same every night except for the leak rate, I use nasal pillows and am constantly stuffing them back in my nose...

I check mine and my wife's every evening after work. See slight changes from time to time, both using AUTO machines, wife's is Respironics auto w\cflex, (TANK), and I am using a Resmed Auto Set Vantage. I prefer the more detailed style of software data output from the Resmed over the Respironics. Both of our present settings are higher than what we were titrated at during our sleep studys.

1st thing every morning when I first started, along with notes on how I was feeling and my sleep position.

Now it's every 2-3 days, just so I don't loose the daily details. I didn't realize how I was causing my own data loss by powering the machine off too often.

Maybe once per month now that things seem to be running real smooth. When I first started, I checked daily, then weekly.

In the beginning I would have checked it twice a day if I could. I kept long notes and data about which mask, what I had eaten for my evening meal, whether I had a drink, insomnia and lots of bits of things. I tried to correlate all that stuff to no avail. I made changes, read lots here, read some more, tried yet another mask, and finally I got it right.

Now, I check it once a week and save the file. Things are working well. I just check to make sure nothing has changed.

For the first few months I checked it daily. Then I checked it weekly for a year. Now I check it about once a month. Of course if I think something might be amiss I check the card. I also use my machine in cpap mode and switch to apap for a few nights every 2 months or so just to see what shows up.

I check the screen every day and if it looks out of line, I'll dump the data right away. Otherwise I dump the card every 3-7 days (closer to 3, I have a teenager on the computer to compete with )

I've been doing this since June when I finally got a data capable machine. Slowly rising the pressure and watching it for a week or more. My AHI has been stable at 2.1 for the last 2 1/2 weeks, but I'm still feeling a little rung out so I'm coincidering raising the pressure again and see what happens.

Actually I follow how I feel - if I feel better at the higher pressure, I'll stick with in.

I was checking about once a week but I have not read the card for over 2 months. I do check the data on the machine about once a week. I can feel that the therapy is working and my life has changed from it. I am back to myself, enjoying bicycling again, and having more energy than I have had in a long time. I will probably check the data for the next few weeks since I got another mask but after that, if I can feel the difference, no need to look.

I try to pull it once a week -- it only seems to hold 7 days, so if I go 10 or 11 days (it happens more often than I'd like) I lose some, but I don't obsess over the numbers like I did at the beginning. I go by how I feel....

I put up a calendar that I made up and printed and now keep track of which mask I use which night -- with that I can asses which mask is working better - using 2, the Headrest and the ComfortGel nasal -- I find the numbers are about the same all the way around, and one doesn't seem to make me feel any better than the other. I've also started keeping track of when I pull the data so I know when the 7 days is.....(yesterday ).....Track filter changes, mask cleanings, HH cleanings etc....(with ADHD I have to write it down cuz I have no chance of remembering!!!)

I've always let the numbers add up -- so it's always been once a week for me. IMHO every day doesn't tell me much of anything -- I like to see the averages over time -- I know what the numbers are going to be by the way I feel in the morning......

cheers
goose
