Machine noise

Anyone know how to quiet the noise that the machine/humidfier makes? It is not bothering me but it keeps my husband awake.

Your machine is noisy because of your pressure of 16 cm, higher your pressure the more noise generated.

Options might be:


-Ordering a longer hose and putting machine under the bed,
-Putting the machine on a large mouse pad seems to quieten them some,
-Putting machine inside a box or putting a towel over it.
-Get your husband some of those foam ear plugs.

You are still going to have the exhaust leak noise.

If he doesn't love you enough to wear earplugs, show him the way to the guest bedroom.

My new beau loves me so much, he swears that nothing about my machine or mask bothers him. I'm the one that's uncomfortable about blowing air on him, so I keep going out to sleep in the living room. This is the weekend I'm demanding he sleep with me in my big queen bed and we're going to see if we can do it together. He's perfectly fine with it. I'm the one all worried that I'll annoy him.

As it happens I dislike a loud CPAP as much or more than my partner does. I would never consider asking my partner to wear ear plugs unless I had done everything I could to make the machine and mask as quiet as possible.

Get a quieter machine, such as an IntelliPAP or a Fisher Paykel. If it is the mask that is noisey, the noise could be coming from the machine or the exhaust port may be noisy. Some masks are quieter than others.

Your machine position is a problem. I would move it off the headboard, and rig up a way to put it just slightly raised off the floor, on your side of the bed.

When I was travelling and sharing a hotel room with a gal who had NEVER been exposed to CPAP, I put my machine on top of the little coffee tray on the floor beside my bed, opposite from the bed where my friend was sleeping.

She said she never even heard it.

The other issue you're going to run into is rainout. You need to keep the machine below the level of your head on the bed in order to reduce this.

I'll try to dig up some ideas to post to show you how others have addressed this problem.

I think this is a great setup, and could probably be replicated pretty easily by most people. If you're sleepy, and would rather pay someone else to make it for you, buy this one!

Vendor doesn't currently have one listed, but you could PM him and ask him about it.

I have my M Series with A Flex on a small step stool next to my bed (not enough room on the bedside table) and if my Swift LT mask is seated right, it makes almost no noise.
