Veeeeeeery iiiintereeeesting:
http://www.contecmed.com/cart/product1. ... 20oximeter (scroll all the way to the BOTTOM of that page, $99.00, CMS-P)
http://www.contecmed.com/cart/product_show.asp?id=96
Do I understand right, that it is a usb-corded sensor that plugs directly into a computer and can do the pulse-oximetry-recording-stuff thingy overnight with its own software, and it is only 99 buckeroonies?!?!?!
Would someone smart please buy one and review it?
(Hint, hint, DreamDiver et al! )

I'm not sure but I think you have to get at least the CMS-50E model, in that oximeter to get software and data on your computer.
I'm thinking about the CMS-50E myself (among others and researching) but, so far, just thinking. I keep looking at the CMS-50E at echostore.com. It's somewhat cheaper.
Sorry!! I missed that you said - "scroll to the BOTTOM of the page". I didn't see that one. It LOOKS very interesting but I know nothing about it!

Thanks, Hawthorne. I edited my post to make that clearer.
I just stumbled on the thing tonight while researching the other Contec products. I was trying to figure out whether to go lithium-rechargeable or AA. Then I noticed this thing, which, if I understand, don't need no battery at all, eh? It seems like a great idea, if it is what I think it is and it actually works. But I'm too chicken to buy it without someone in this forum giving it the stamp of approval, ya know?

I know what you mean! I would want an experienced opinion even at only $99!! It seems just too good to be true!

That would be the purpose of the software, I assume. The site says it has both "realtime display software" and "Sleep Study Software and Report System." To me that
implies overnight and recording, but it isn't directly stated, (unless it's in Chinese ). Every other Contec pulse oximeter that comes with software can record data. But that is a
good question, guest. That's exactly the kind of thing I'm wondering about.

Sure looks neat. I may just buy it and try it. Looks like it will record for 24 hours.

You mean that's not a 300-ft. usb cable?
Good point. Thanks.
Hmmm. I think that as long as I don't have to sit for 20 minutes while a perfect stanger glues wires to my flesh, I don't mind sleeping near my desktop with the monitor turned off. I sleep with earplugs anyway.
Even if I only used it once or twice, it would be a neat-o-gadget-thingy that none of my geek friends would have, so I could brag about that and be the uber-geek for a day. That alone is worth the price of admission!
They say the software is free. So maybe just one of us should buy one of the silly things and then all of us in the forum could mail it around to one another whenever we needed an O2 spot check! Let's call that "Stupid-Idea-JNK-#47!"

I don't know about you but I can just about bet that my notebook is much quieter than my Xpap machine.

That's interesting. They show a link on their website to BBB which opens up a totally different echostore.com. This one is, ofkors, satisfactory...

Which one is the right one now?

Now, that's just plain wild! I have no idea which is the right rating for echostore.com. Will the real echostore.com bbb site please stand up!
I e-mailed the Chicago bbb about it.
Echostore has a 5 out of 10 rating at resellerratings.com (average rating there for all stores is 7.95). They have a "very good" rating from Yahoo Shopping. Maybe they are fine--I don't know.
Thanks for pointing that out, dmstangu.

I just bought one of these from an eBay vendor. Looked at their feedback and it seemed like at least two people had bought them. Both left positive feedback and one specifically said that it worked well.
So, within 10 days or so I hope to have one of these in my hands. My plan is to connect it to a rarely used laptop and shove it under the bed. I'm no professional, but I'll try to at least give my general impression of how it works.

Thanks, lateforwork! I look forward to that review. And I prefer reviews from nonprofessionals, since I more often understand what is being said. I have never been brave enough to buy using eBay, but I would consider it.

I ran my laptop overnite 4-5 different nites and burned up the power supply. I now have a laptop cooler that I make sure to use.
