Re: GOOD MORNING everyone, back from my titration last night..
Thank you again so much everyone!! At first I was very sleepy this morning and thought, okay no miracles here at least I made it through the night with the mask on and did feel relief at not feeling a tight throat when I went to sleep.. But holy cow! I had energy I have never, ever, ever had in my entire life when I went to work! It was like a lightbulb went off and I was full speed ahead.. Just incrediable! I now cringe tonight as I must go to sleep without my beloved cpap machine. It takes some a long time to fall in love with something.. Not me, nope.. I am in LOVE with this new way of breathing and it's soo darn good! I still feel pain in my knees and feet so eventually my physical pain got to me and I was limping by nights end. But now there is hope for once in my 42 years..

Re: GOOD MORNING everyone, back from my titration last night..
I just had to fit a question in this thread and here it is.. It was kind of funny last night as the tech was hooking the wires to my scalp we were chatting.. She said alot of women come in to this study because they want to loose weight and only wanted this machine for that purpose, like some miracle diet fad.. But anyhow my question is how does being properly titrated and breathing well aid in loosing weight?? Seems like it would have nothing in common with sleeping at all..

It is not so much that sleeping makes you lose weight. But it is a matter of it being nearly impossible to lose weight (barring drastic measures, like surgery) if you aren't getting good sleep.
Panic hormones, which surge through you every time your body has to panic itself awake to get you to breathe, cause that difficulty, apparently, when your osa in untreated.
Also, a person with no energy is going to be sedentary and is going to crave energizing (read: fattening) foods. So if you use the increased energy you get from PAP therapy to increase your activity level, to start a regular exercise program you can be consistent with, and if you carefully avoid the foods you used to have a physical craving for and the comfort foods you ate to forget about your fatigue, then you WILL lose weight. However, if you use the extra energy merely to stay awake watching more television shows to take advantage of your newly found ability to stay awake, you will NOT lose weight.
That's one theory, anyway. Or maybe just mine.

Congrats, Michelle! You've cleared two big hurdles and you're off and running!

Getting old doesn't make you 'forgetful'. Having too damn many things to remember makes you 'forgetful'.

Great new Michelle!!!!! I had a very similar experience with my PSG and titration.....
I also had to wait over a month to get my treatment, but like you, I was totally looking forward to it so I really didn't have much problem accepting or adjusting.....I just strapped on the mask and went to sleep -- I'll bet you'll do the same!!!!
I didn't want to go to sleep the night after my titration because I knew I'd feel like crap in the morning....I was right!!!
Now with that said, don't expect miracles!!! You didn't get here overnight, so don't expect to be fixed overnight!!!! You've already noticed the increase in energy and that should continue, but you will have ups and downs -- just celebrate the ups and "shine on" the downs......
The mask is the Holy Grail of xPAP so having found one you like, you're 90% there already!!!! Don't rule out looking at and trying other masks -- you never know -- you may find one you like even more!!!
Keep us up on how you're doing - you already know where to come for help!!!
Take care
cheers

Wars arise from a failure to understand one another's humanness. Instead of summit meetings, why not have families meet for a picnic and get to know each other while the children play together?
