MyEncore error

Post by Tridens » Wed Jul 27, 2005 9:57 am

I'm getting the following error when I try to run MyEncore:

Window title: Setup Error
Message Box text: Failed to load resources from resource file
Please check your Setup

--I've got the latest version of MyEncore (1.03). I've uninstalled and re-installed MyEncore twice
--I've got a valid installation of Encore Pro (latest revision installed from Respironics' site, v1.4.99),
--.NET framework 1.1 is installed (no updates available at Windows Update)
--Have data imported into Encore Pro.

Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance!

Not the same error message, but perhaps this thread relates.

Thanks for the thread, but no, this won't help. Encore Pro is installed just fine. It's Derek's MyEncore that I'm having the error with. Thanks for trying, though!

Derek is on vacation, but is aware that I have the same error on one of my computers. I would send him a PM and let him know the particular details of your system so when he gets back he can take a look at the problem. I believe it has to do with the dot-net framework looking for a DLL it can't find. I've tried Un-installing everything (dot-net and MyEncore) and reinstalling but no help. You might try this also, could work for you.

Jim,

Thanks for the taking the time to respond. I guess there's some comfort in knowing it's not just my system. I will PM Derek. Thanks again!

I had the same error UNTIL I downloaded some data into Encore Pro. It looks like MyEncore won't startup correctly without some existing data.

Yes, I'm wondering if that might be the problem. I figured that MyEncore wouldn't work without data (although I wasn't sure what message I'd get). However, I had imported two patient's worth of sample data that comes on the Encore Pro CD. I assumed that MyEncore would utilize this data, but maybe not.

I haven't actually downloaded data (my card reader, which I ordered separately for $25, hasn't arrived yet (search for "tridens" for some threads that discuss this if you're interested in saving some money if your card reader dies and you need to replace it). I guess I'll have to wait to download some true data and see if that resolves the issue.

Thanks for the help!

I had a 1 day download and did an additional download but still no go - I have a desktop with almost the same setup and it works fine - even with only a days worth of data. I believe this error comes from the dot.net framework - If you do a search on the web, you'll find lots of people with this problem on various programs. Most fixes seem to involve changes to the program, or re-installs to fix corrupt DLL files. Another possibility involves Norton Anti-Virus, which I am using on the "bad" computer, but not on the "good" one. Norton seems to be unable to keep hands off at times, even when in the "disabled" mode. I'm thinking of trying completely removing Norton and every thing else, then doing a complete re-install and see if that works as soon as I have time.

Thanks for the info. I received my reader today ($24 + $6 S&H from http://www.2factors.com), and once I downloaded data, MyEncore worked great. Thanks for the info. It'd be great if you could let us know how things work for you once you uninstall Norton. Thanks, and best of luck!

I'm back, and I'm looking into the problem - haven't been able to duplicate it yet. Tridens may have hit upon it, but two others have also reported the problem in the last week.

More later..

The "error" is actually what happens when My Encore opens the database and does not find any data, or only finds compliance data such as from a RemStar Pro (not a Pro2 ). If you download some data into the database using Encore Pro, then you can start and use My Encore.
