Hey gang -
I've got a Hybrid mask from cpap.com that I've paid the "return insurance fee" on and while I really like it in some ways I'm having some interesting issues.
Getting this thing to seal and stay sealed is extremely elusive. I've finally gotten the nasal pillows aligned correctly (had to cut the middle connector out and swivel them to custom angles) and occasionally get the rest of the mask to seal tightly BUT as soon as I move one direction or the other something shakes loose and then it's like I'm struggling to get jello back into a bottle. Once in a great while it seems to just SEAL but doesn't stay very long and then only when I sleep in "casket mode" (on the back staring straight up at the ceiling and not moving at all).
Has anyone figured out a way to use this hybrid mask and still sort of be able to sleep on their side or at least move a little???
I love my CL2 mask but am having difficulties with open mouth and am also investigating taping so we'll see.
I have about 2 more weeks before I have to decide on whether to keep this mask or return it.
Thanks!

Re: Hybrid Mask on trial - leaks & side sleeping
For some of us the Hybrid will NEVER work. THere are too many places for it to leak, and the leaks will drive you crazy if you can't sleep through them and if you can sleep through them, you don't get decent therapy. Try the suggestions given here and if they don't work, try another mask. Everybodys face is different.
But keep on trying and don't give up.

where is it leaking?
The chinflap is removeable, but only cut the mouth cushion that is not your favorite. You got 3. that gives you lots of room to play.

Sometimes along the side(s) of the mask and sometimes around the nasal pillows. I just was fiddling with it and applied liberal amounts of bag balm around the edges of everything and tightened up the straps to "HURRICANE". that seems to help but gosh that puts a ton of pressure on.neverbetter wrote:where is it leaking?
Well yeah - I thought about that. First, I'm not sure how that affects the ability to return it and I'm also able to get the mask to seal with that in place occasionally and think that it probably does some good.neverbetter wrote:The chinflap is removeable......
Thanks a bunch for your reply.

I love the hybrid and had great luck with it. I used Roosters instructions for the hybrid;

Double recommend the link Brenda suggests.bdp522 wrote:I love the hybrid and had great luck with it. I used Roosters instructions for the hybrid;

Try a pap-cap. It will completely stabilize just about any mask.
Also, if you haven't already, try the large nasal pillows. I had to cut them apart too. That little silicone link actually pushes the pillows apart just enough to make a 25L/m difference in the leak.
