New pressure and the LT Swift.

Post by Kumbakaran » Mon Sep 15, 2008 7:51 am

Greetings,

My new titration pressure is 10, used to be 7 when I was originally diagnosed with severe OSA.
I was told to stay at 7 for six weeks and then go for another PSG and they'll figure out my real pressure.

Originally, with the DME I got a Mirage Activa mask, which I got used to fairly quickly. After reading
the reviews about the LT Swift I decided to buy one. I have more issues with leaks with the LT but the
mask is just so much more comfortable.

Now, I have always used the humidifier in passover mode. I tried turning it on once, but it got me all congested
within a few hours of it being on.

The first night of the pressure being at 10, I put on my LT and goto bed around 11pm. At 2am I wake up with this
ridiculous buring my right nostril. I had to pull off the mask, and on every breath that I inhaled, I sneezed.
It was like having pepper in the nose on every breath. I must of sneezed about 50+ times. Ended up sleeping without
CPAP for the first time in 6 weeks.

Last couple of nights, I been using the Activa again.

What went wrong ?

- Humidifaction too low for a pressure of 10?
- My nose is too sensitive for nasal pillows @ 10?

I'm scared of a repeat episode of that burning/sneezing.

Did you soak the mask in a mild soap solution for a while before wearing it? I react to new cpap masks and hoses unless I do this. Just one possibility.

Hi,

I try to clean the mask everymorning as part of my daily routine. Some days, when I am running late, I don't. I then leave the mask
on a clean towel on my dresser to air dry for use at night.

I used the LT for weeks on a pressure of 7 with no issues. Just at a pressure of 10, I had this happen.
