LT and higher auto pressures?

Post by JimW » Sat Sep 13, 2008 1:16 pm

Don't know if this has been touched on before...

I've noticed that, over the last week (plus), pressures on my auto have been running consistently higher with the Swift LT compared to the original Swift. The auto is set 6.8 cm to 10 cm. Four days in a row with LT showed 90% at 10.0 to 10.2 and medians at 8.2 to 8.6; four days with original showed 90% at 8.0 to 8.4 and medians at 7.2 to 7.4. Last night, went back to the LT, which does seem a little more comfortable, and 90% was 10.2 with median of 9.0. Any ideas out there as to what might bring this about? Anyone else with similar data differences?

Interesting. I have no reader at this point, but I think this was what I was referring to in my thread "Feeling of less air with some masks" (next page). I settled on the Swift LT partly because that sense of extra air pressure feels much better to me, and I had trouble feeling like I was getting enough air with the nasal or FF masks. I look forward to hearing others' data on this.

What about the other "data".....AHI, leaks, snores, etc.? Any differences there?
"All things being equal".......there presumably should be SOME reason for the increases.

The average (mean) of the median leaks for 5 days with LT was 0.09; for original for 4 days, 0.13. Mean AHI over 5 days of LT use was 1.94, original for 4 days 1.95. (ResMed machines don't report snores.) I tend to think there's something inherent in the different mask structures/dynamics of air flow that brings this about.

I'm not sure what to make of it, but my AHI is higher using the LT consistently for the past week. This is the first week I've used it every night (due to having pad a cheeks for it now). Since my leaks are very good, it's not leaks. I'm going to try it for another week and see if it's the same. My average with this mask is 2.5 so far. After that I'll try bumping the pressure a bit and see if that does anything. Or I may compare it with my Swift II and see if it's just something going on with me. I'll let you know what happens.

I've been getting lower leaks with the LT as well as lower HI - a lot lower. But my pressure is around 2cm higher

LT AI=0.1, HI=1.9 Leak=1.2l/m Pressure 13 (32 days)
Activa AI=0.1, HI=3.5 Leak=4.8l/m Pressure=11.4 (32 Days)
