Hey, there's one of Aunt Weeza's Vaseline supply frigates! She hired a navy of unemployed sailors who were milling down by the "locks". They set sail every morning to maintain all those frustratingly rusty Atlantean chastity locks throughout that vast sunken land. What a coincidence that jules would have found the very picture that succinctly answers ozij's questions!!! Woa!!! The universe is connected in mysterious ways...
------------------------------------------------------------
Wonder how many newbies would
really have to ask how to make an implementation like this work:
"How to display Off Topic threads: OT On or OT Off"
For those who don't want anything changed, well... just do nothing with the above implementation and your wish is magically granted. The trick, however, would be making sure off-topic threads had the OT prefix in the subject line. An on-the-fly OT query question that pops up right after hitting the post submit button? A voluntary OT button similar to the spam button? So what solution is perfect anyway???

. . . the trick, however, would be making sure off-topic threads had the OT prefix in the subject line. . . .
[OT] I think the real problem around here are guys like me who post in threads that are solidly on topic but then try to drag them off topic with foolishness. [OT] My question is, what can we do about guys like
me? [OT] Would I have to start every line I wrote with "OT"? [OT] And would that keep me off anyone's enemies list?

Truth is I also happen to prefer leaving everything as-is.
However, OldLincoln's point about excessive post volumes is a valid point of consideration IMO. If/when we reach the point where yesterday's posts stretch as far back as only three or four pages, then reading will become very cumbersome... especially for those of us with various degrees of impaired cognition which so often accompanies apnea.
The off-topic conversational excursions are downright therapeutic IMHO. Machine information isn't the only benefit afforded here IMO. We also receive the side benefits of humor and group support---the latter at a social and psychological level. Strange but happy-true for what it's worth...

Well, I think that once again, a timely and pertinent question has been turned into something vulgar and disgusting, and time would be far better spent discussing more pertinent issues.
Such as, "Why is it during a three-game series in baseball, if, after the first two games, the series is tied (each team has one one game), the third game becomes "The Rubber Game"?
SAG
Aromatherapy may help CPAP compliance. Lavender, Mandarin, Chamomile, and Sweet Marjoram aid in relaxation and sleep. Nature's Gift has these and a blend of all four called SleepEase.

I can't believe I actually read this entire thread......but......
so I thought this was a good place for this reminder:
How many forum members does it takes to change a light bulb?
1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed
14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently
7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs
1 to move it to the Lighting section
2 to argue then move it to the Electricals section
7 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs
5 to flame the spell checkers
3 to correct spelling/grammar flames
6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ... another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid
2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"
15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct
19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb forum
11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum
36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty
7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs
4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's
3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group
13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too"
5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy
4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"
13 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs"
1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again.
Now I think we should have thread where everyone admits which of the above catagories they belong in.
..........Johnny, please, just leave it the way it is.

All I know is that Aunt Weeza plays all three games as if they were rubber games... ever since she met that lifeguard beau of hers from the city state of Troy.
Carbonman just solved this thread and that M-Series blue light dilemma in one fell swoop. He's good!

Hilarious---and so true. And I must prove it true by posting my "correction" to your list. This one should read:
7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs without first consulting with a light-bulb-changing professional who may tell you how to do it, or may tell you you're fine in the dark, leave the light bulb alone.

CM Welcome to the forum and Thank You for explaining the anatomy of a forum to sleep deprived bloggers who each think this is
'their webpage'.

So now we know just how we arrived here for the ummteenth time.
fwiw - Rubber match was coined by scientists who had to do with Aunt Weeza bouncing into posts which are relevant to where she had her tires made. And you thought I was gonna say something else.

No, no... Aunt Weeza was going to raid the Right Guard deodorant factory in Oakland just for kicks.
But her dyslexia extends beyond being a mere text-only disorder. Somehow it manages to influence her actions as well. She's both cause-and-effect and time-line skewed as well... Poor Aunt Weeza. But we love her anyway...

"Crazy" people need a forum, too. (I guess we have to borrow this one occasionally)

Excellent!!!
You forgot the several members (3 - 6) who will actually post the detailed instructions (from a manual) for changing a lightbulb/lamp.
And, hopefully the thread hasn't been LOCKED by then by some forum Admin who claims that an individual shouldn't be changing their OWN lightbulbs and deletes the posts with the instructions. (Oh, I forgot, that's the OTHER forums.)
Den (glad to be a member of this "crazy", wonderful forum)
