Vibratory Snore .. I don't get it

Post by Kumbakaran » Fri Aug 15, 2008 10:01 am

Greetings,

I finally got the card reader + software going. Now I have a questions!

I was a little baffled about Vibratory Snore, I am averaging 300-500 VS's a night.
The VS vertical slashes on the graphs are so close together, that its all solid. There are periods
of no snoring but they are so short and inbetween. My wife says I am not snoring at all.

All the other numbers make sense:

OA averages around 7
AH averages around 9
AHI average 15
Leak avg: 33LPM

I have yet to be titrated and my pressure is set to 7cm.

Are you making sure your nasal passages are clear before going to bed? Nasal congestion can register as snores. "Snores" aren't always created by mouth breathing and, like I said, nasal "snoring" will also show up.
I had high numbers (in the hundreds) in my first year. Then I came up with a way of making sure my nasal passages were clear......and bumped my pressure up a couple of cms. That took care of it. They're usually below 1.0 now.

(5) REMstar Autos w/C-Flex & (6) REMstar Pro 2 CPAPs w/C-Flex - Pressure Setting = 14 cm.
"Passover" Humidification - ResMed Ultra Mirage FF - Encore Pro w/Card Reader & MyEncore software - Chiroflow pillow

Which way is this?

I am one of those guys usually congested, almost always in one notril. I nasal rinse before bed, which helps and
use nasonex.

But no matter what, which ever side I sleep on, that side eventually will block up, leaving the other side open.

I had the same problem, but when I switched masks to the Swift LT from the Swift II my Vibratory Snores went from the low 100s to between 4 and 10.

I won't describe my own procedure, but the recommended way from previous forum threads is to use a saline nasal rinse.
Or, whatever it takes to get your nasal passages clear.

Your numbers are far from good, maybe the problems not the machine seeing you snoring, maybe she has ear trouble. To test for ear trouble, whisper something you don't want her to hear, if she hears it, her hearing is good, and you are in the dog house, again. Congestion and loose parts in the airway can appear as snoring, as can draging the hose over the bed post.

You should be able to get your AHI lower. Jim

I use a neti pot with homemade saline, but I don't have much success with that clearing my sinuses. What does seem to help is that I use two pillows at an angle and position myself with my head and neck supported by the pillows so that my head is slightly elevated. I have read on usenet groups for sinusitis that this helps.
Wulman, interesting to me that you seem secretive about your method. Do you use the dreaded iodine method?

That's a definite NO. I just use plain (slightly warm) water to loosen things up........let's call it....the "digital" method.

Try NeilMed http://www.neilmed.com. It's made a huge difference for me.

I get vibratory snore whenever I have a bit of nasal congestion, which happens less often with nasal cushion vs pillows. I get more VS with FF.
