How to stop leaks when sleeping on your side

My mask fits very well when I am on my back, sometimes it comes loose when I sleep on my side. My leak rate is 25, so it's well under the 50L/H that seem to cause problems. Should I look at getting a specific pillow to help this? Does anyone have any input? Thanks.

Oh my gosh.....something I can finally offer some advice on!! LOL

The Chiro-Flow pillow was mentioned on this site, (wulfman, he rocks!) and for me personally, its been the dream pillow I've searched for! For years I've used down/goose feather, and never imagined I would switch, but this Chiro-Flow has allowed me to sleep on my side with a full face mask. I found mine on Ebay. Just my 2 cents

I bought a shapeable pillow from TARGETS and it made all the difference in being able to sleep on my side. I cannot sleep supine so something had to work and this was the answer for me. I think the cost was around 25.

Some nights I use the "Shapeable" pillow from Target that Jim mentioned, and some nights the PAPillow...this one:

Either of those work very well for me -- a toss 'n turn, mostly side sleeper.

I got the Chiroflow hoping it would help with side sleeping but found it doesn't support my neck well and I wake with neck pain.

Nice idea but just doesn't work for me.

Hopefully a $25 pillow will solve your problem. But maybe it's the mask? Some masks are better than others for side sleeping. What kind of mask do you have?

Also, do you mean that your leak rate is 25 on your back AND on your side, or just on your back?

I bought the contour memory foam pillow from Big Lots ($12) and it works well.

Another thing is, try loosening the upper straps, tightening the lowers slightly and making sure the mask doesn't slide as you turn.

I don't care which pillow you get - you're not likely to do better than 25. But w/o knowing the pressure 25 is not worth much.

What pressure setting(s)?

Some masks don't work worth a darn for side sleeping.
Some masks don't work worth a darn for back sleeping.
Some masks don't work worth a darn for stomach sleeping.

You know......those ones the DMEs always give out because they make so much profit off of them......so the customer will have to come back and get another.......or they keep mouth-leaking with it and wonder why their therapy isn't working......

It would be safe to say that "it depends". However, in hindsight......I erred in my original statement by making it too general. We KNOW there are some "good" DMEs out there......especially the ones who frequent this forum. We also KNOW that THEY would NOT do THAT! So, they need to be excluded from that category.

Hopefully, they can pass along some of their good qualities to others (DMEs) who are not as blessed.
