Comfort Curve

Post by pjohnson32696 » Mon Jul 11, 2005 12:38 pm

I just got the Comfort Curve last week and I have say it's been pretty good. Yes, it does take alittle adjusting but once done I have had a great night's sleep. Any other positives or negatives? I sllep on my back most of the time but I've tried on my side and it seals fine.

You must be using a different Comfort Curve that I did.

Comfort Curve

Post by stetsongirl » Mon Jul 11, 2005 8:41 pm

I started out with the Comfort Curve and it was great for about 10 days, then I started getting massive leaks. However, I had one of the first ones, and the headgear has been redesigned. They did send me a new headgear and it seems to be doing fine again.

Glad it's working well for you, pjohnson.
Any other positives or negatives?
Yes. Quite a few who have tried it have weighed in on both sides, as with any mask. This link will take you to some interesting discussions about it:

I have had mine for a couple of weeks. Had trouble with the pads. Was having some kind of alergic reaction. They where leaving bad red marks. Was catching hell at work. Read the message about the pantyliners and tried them. Everything is working great now. Got a new headgear in the mail today.

Who is sending the new headgear? I wrote to Respironics asking for the new headgear explaining I couldn't get the CC to not leak with the original. Their only response was:
"The item number is 1019207. You can order it through your supplier where the mask was purchased."
I don't believe I should have to purchase new headgear because their original design was flawed.

Sent in my registration two weeks ago and they sent me a new headgear in the mail as a "thank you"

I got mine shortly after it came out. Tried it, and put it into the drawer.

A month went by, tried it again. Same resting place after a couple of nights.

Five nights ago I tried it again, and love it. I can't figure it out. It just seems to be a pleasure to wear.

I haven't gotten any new headgear, not sure whether I registered or not.

I like it.

I have had mine for about a month and a half now and have used it every night. I am pretty stubborn and have tried everything to make it work but I can only wear it for so long before it starts to leak and then I have to take it off. I have an autopap and I have calibrated it down so it starts at 2.5 and tops out at 8 and it still pops the nose seal before I get to that point. Basically I end up getting about 3-4 good hours of sleep on average before I have to take it off. The funny thing is that even with that amount of sleep I feel so much better than before. If I can get a good mask that I can wear 7-8 hours I will be in great shape.

So tonight the question is do I pick the breeze or the aura? It is going to be a last minute tossup.

I guess it wouldn't be fair if i didn't mention the good points to this mask. First, it is just down right comfortable to wear, very light, it gives you a full field of vision, when it is sealed it is very silent. It does have alot of adjustability built into it. That is the reason I have been trying for so long to make it work. I feel with a few modifications to the nose seal this could be an awesome mask.

I keep thinking if the company would ditch the nosepiece and put nasal pillows on it instead it would be perfect for me.just a thought

I'm glad that people who have sent in a registration card to Respironics have received the new headgear.

However, I think it's absolutely ridiculous for Respironics to make anyone who purchased the Comfort Curve jump through ANY hoops at all to receive the redesigned headgear other than returning the original headgear to Respironics. My personal opinion is that anyone who bought the Comfort Curve when it first came out should be able to mail the headgear straight back to Respironics and receive the revised headgear. No requirement for a registration card to be sent in (a "thank you", indeed...lol!!). No need to go through a middleman that it was purchased from. The original headgear itself should be proof enough that the person is entitled to the new headgear.

Marketing PR aside, any manufacturer who comes out with revised headgear within just a month or so after introducing a brand new type of interface....well, I don't buy it for one minute that Respironics did a headgear redesign so soon just because they wanted to make an improvement.

I think they got so many complaints from customers (their real customers being the DMEs, not us end users) about the mask that they had to do something to make it work better or sales of that mask would not have reached whatever profit goal the manufacturer had set for it. Just my opinion.

I tried the new headgear yesterday. I had a hard time getting it to fit right. I had no troubles with the orginal so I am going back to it.

I love my comfort curve..get great results with it. Received new headgear in the mail. Really seals nicely now. Very light which is a plus. The Activa, which everyone raves about, does give a great seal but it is too heavy on the face!! For people who cannot stand anything in there nares or in front of their face...this is a great option. Wherever you bought your CC should supply you with new headgear...was not a problem.
