HI RESTEDGAL I KNOW YOU USE THE BREEZE . HAVE YOU EVER USED THE AURA NASAL AND IF SO COULD YOU TELL ME WHAT YOU THOUGHT. THANKS A BUNCH MARY

Have been dicussing this with 'restedgal' myself. She advised that the AURA is her fav nasal pillow mask. Even likes it more than her Breeze.

I have been considering obtaining one but am still researching the matter. AURA & Breeze are at the top of my list.

One word of caution re nasal pillows - if you are on a high pressure (I am on 14) there is the risk of getting 'windburn' in your nasal passages as these type of devices direct high pressure air directly into the nostrils vs a mask that puts the air into a mask cavity. So, the biggest turn off re nasal pillows is the side effects for high-pressure users.

'Restedgal' has done lots of experimenting with different pillow masks and at different pressures.

The Aura is RGs favorite. She radically modified the headgear..

I just slip a nylon over it and it keeps it in place.. Now I'm a double hosehead

I would never presume to speak for restedgal but if you do a search here you will find her analysis of the Aura. RG and others (including me) have made some significant changes to our Aura's. Instructions are available on this forum.

Mary, yes, I use an Aura that I've modified a lot because the headgear that comes with it is often too big for many women's heads. I use my modified Aura almost every night. I do like it.

If I weren't using the Aura, I'd be using the Breeze every night.

If there were no such thing as an Aura or a Breeze or a Swift, I'd be using my Activa nasal mask (covers the nose) every night.

If there were no such thing as adhesive tape, I'd be wearing my Ultra Mirage FF (full face) mask every night.

I USE THE BREEZE AND ACTIVA AND LIKE BOTH, THE ACTIVA IS MY FAVORITE BUT IN THE SUMMER I COULD USE A GOOD NASAL MASK. I AM A 14 BUT IT DIDN'T BOTHER ME WITH THE BREEZE. ... and presumably if there wasn't adhesive tape and an ultra mirage FF mask, you'd have rigged something effective up using common household items

I'm a 13 and have had no problems with the Aura. It is definitely my favorite.

I am addicted to the adhesive tape as *the* most effective mouth sealer. But, my face is getting worse by the day as a little bit more of it comes off each morning when ripping off the prior nights tape strip

I have had two embryonic ideas re this

1) Take the mouth piece of a diving snorkel & seal up the breathing hole & refine the mouth part to sit more comfortably in my mouth all night

2) Speak to my dentist. I already have a night teeth guard needed to stop my million dollar lifelong indestructible ceramic crown uppers grinding my little ole human lowers, to dust. If he can provide a teethguard that fits both upper & lower teeth & they can be locked or secured easily, that might do it.

In fact I think the easiest & simplest & cheapest idea may be to use the similar quicksetting rubber the dentist used to get a mould of my teeth. If I can get a rubber mould made on both upper & lower at the same time in one piece, I believe the resulting rubber moulds natural suction would be enough to hold both sets of teeth in place & together all night. To remove it just requires a bit of muscle exercise in the jaw to open the mouth against the suction in the mould holding the teeth closed.

But this is only the start.

You're a true lab rat at heart, DSM. A long time ago, I read of a cpap'er having his dentist make a "double-sided" bruxism guard. It was to take care of two things at the same time...his nighttime teeth grinding and the mouth air leaks while he used his cpap.

Dan, I'm glad the Aura suits you. When it "fits" a person, it really is remarkably comfortable! Wish they'd come out with a headgear size scaled down to fit women's heads better. In the meantime, what's left of my little chopped down version does the job so well.

RG, which is the quieter, Breeze or Aura? Do you prefer the Aura because of comfort, quietness, or combination of both? I have BCBS and have been told I get a new mask as needed. Not sure if this means when mine falls apart or when I want a new one. Don't know their definition of need. I have only used the Swift but would like to try one of the others. I'm not sure that I can use anything but pillows. The slightest pressure on the bridge of my nose completely blocks all air from getting through. As I've said before, I'm afraid to tape because I still smother in the nite and catch up on my air through my mouth. This is probably a bad thing to do, but I don't know what else to try. It beats taking off my mask, and going back to sleep without it. I'm still hoping to be able to exchange my Remstar Plus for an Auto. And thanks so much for taking the time to help us all. I'll have to say my RT has been very patient with me. But your voice of experience is greatly appreciated.
