Got a new machine, my first auto. Devillbiss makes it. My fixed old machine was set at 11. Does it matter what setting I put the auto on since it adjusts? The range is 4-20. I have noticed the higher I set it the higher it goes. I need help

I agree with cflame1.jlherndon wrote:Got a new machine, my first auto. Devillbiss makes it. My fixed old machine was set at 11. Does it matter what setting I put the auto on since it adjusts? The range is 4-20. I have noticed the higher I set it the higher it goes. I need help
If you want to run it in a range of pressures, I'd suggest setting your minimum pressure at 11 and leave the top open and see where it goes from there. Otherwise, set it to CPAP at 11 and see how you feel with that setting first.
And, yes, it DOES matter what settings you select......if you want to have "good" therapy. Just because it says it's an "Auto" and adjusts, doesn't mean that it's AUTOMATICALLY going to go from 4 to 12 to stop an apnea.

I agree with the others, the Minimum 4.0 cm (default) pressure is too low.
You will starve for air at that pressure.
I would put the Minimum pressure up to at least 6.5 and I wouldn't put any ceiling (Max) pressure in, allow the machine to find what your new CPAP pressure is. If events subside it will drop back down to the lower pressure.
So would start off with:
Minimum=6.5 (or set to a pressure that is comfortable)
Maximum=20
Without any exhale relief like Cflex, setting your Minimum pressure down below your CPAP pressure makes up for that.
Go for the comfort, you may even sleep better. Does that machine display any sleep results on the LCD?

someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...
