Have a Goodknight 314 that was given to me but no-one will adjust the pressure ("because I didn't buy it from them"). Any assist would be appreciated....

Have you had a titration sleep study? If not, I would think if you brought the machine to the sleep lab they would set it for you in the morning. At least that's what they did for me when I had my loaner REMStar.

If you have, and you know your optimal pressure, perhaps your sleep doctor can help?

I'm sure most of the knowledgable people on this list would advise you against tweeking it yourself.

I've been using a cpap since 1999 and know the pressure. My doctor isn't familiar with the machine and none of the medical supply places will adjust it becuase I didn't get it from them. The hospital has the device to measure the pressure level, but, again, the nurse doesn't know this particul;ar machine.... I seem to be caught in a catch-22... The cpap was given to me by my brother-in-law, who doesn't need it anymore.

Thanks "rested gal".... Called them - They don't know how to reset the pressure. And, because the machime is "out of date", they're not sure if there's anyone around that would have the clinical manual that'd tell how to do it.

One last shot - Anyone out there have the clinical manual??? and would be willing to send it to me?

I'll consider this closed if I don't hear from someone within the next week or so....

I really DO appreciate the help....

Dan, Don't know if this will help, but on the 418 access was by pressing the "OO" in the name, plus another key. If this works for you I can get out my old 418 manual and refresh my memory.

Appreciate the reply ..... Unfortunately, the only external switches/buttons/protuberances (all on the back) are (1) the on-off, (2) what looks like a set screw (jewlers screwdriver size) and (3) three dip switches.

I'll experiment with the dip switches and set screw to see what they do. I'm guessing that the set screw is the pressure setter/adjustment.

Dan, have you or your RT tried calling Puritan Bennett tech support yet?

Sleep labs tend to be very helpful as well---providing they know the technology that is. You might try calling various sleep labs in your area explaining your dilema. With a pressure RX in hand from your doctor, many sleep labs are willing to adjust pressure for free. Perhaps there are some seasoned sleep-tech and/or RT veterans out there who know the GK 314.
