PB420E, Silverlining and IBM thinkpad laptop

Post by djv1255 » Sun Jul 10, 2005 9:28 am

When I got my PB420E and silverlining, the cable had a DB9 male plug.
My laptop has a USB port, a small 15 pin monitor male plug and a printer plug.

Has anyone used a DB9 to USB adaptor with the PB420E and silverlining?

Yes, on an IBM laptop, as a matter of fact.
You have to buy a USB to COM cable. It comes with software that defines one of your USB ports as a COM port and you're ready to go.
The new Silvelining software can work with any COM port numer, the driver installed, very smoothly for me, and everything is functioning perfectly.

I remember reading a post on the subject by Wader, if you do a search you might find suggestions about where to buy the cable - I live in Israel, so where I bought it won't really help you....
