For those that actually use chin straps

Do you put your strap on before the mask or put the chin strap on over the mask straps. So far the chin strap is the only thing that half way keeps my big mouth shut during sleep. I have tried the tape and denture strips and nothing works.

I put the mask on first, turn on the machine, then put on the chin strap.

I put the chinstrap on first, then the mask over that. Well, at least I USED to do that. Before.

I threw out the headgear on my Nasal Aire II, and now just attach my mask directly to the chinstrap.

I have a link to photos of what I did here on my Tip Sheet:

I'm using the Deluxe Chinstrap from https://www.cpap.com, and just the back strap - not the front strap. Then I sewed two strips of Velcro One Wrap at the temples. I bring those around the side hoses of the mask, to secure them to the chinstrap.

Velcro One Wrap is a wonderful thing.

Babs

I put mine on after the mask. My strap is like headgear though - two loops joined by a short piece - it seems to stabilize the mask as well. I tried a single loop chin strap but it kept slipping off the back or front of my head. I must be a cone head.

Here's the direct link to pix of my chinstrap/headgear mod:

Put in the "h t t p : / /" yourself.

I use the Swift11, and put that on first, cpap.com deluxe chin strap on over the Swift, get a lot less mask movement like that turning from back to sleep, also use the hose overhead so no tangles, or condensation build up.

I put the chinstrap on first. I actually never thought of doing it the other way. I will have to give that a shot and see how it goes.

chin stap

I used to put the chinstrap on first, the other way would force the nasal pillows out of my nose if the chinstrap moved. Here in the lab, chin strap first. However with the new pap-cap, that has to go on first. It works awesome!

I put the chinstrap on first. Then my very modified Headrest nasal pillows mask (what's left of it after I "deconstructed" it. )

This is the chinstrap I use...just the wide strap itself, without the extra little straps that can be used with it.

It's the "Respironics Original Deluxe."

Chinstrap first, mask second.

I use the deconstructed Aura/Headrest/Twilight NP/Whatever the kids call it these days like Rested Gal, so the pantyhose tights straps go on top of that.
