Encore Pro Backup

Post by raymart43 » Wed Jun 25, 2008 6:25 pm

Anyone know how to backup the Encore Pro database? I don't want to lose my data.
Thanks!

Yes, just use the "Export Patient" feature to save the file. Then, you can copy it to an external drive.

I use "export patient" to save it. I actually save it and use "Add Patient" to move it from my desktop to my laptop. Some have gotten errors when they tried but I have never had a problem. It saves as a XML format.

I tried the export patient and I couldn't get it to work for me. Not sure what I may have done wrong.

Just in case it does not work for you -- you need to backup the 10 files in this folder:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$ENCOREPRO\Data\

If you end up having to reinstall Encore Pro, just copy the 10 files into the same path right after you finish with installation.

I used the Export Patient feature recently when I changed computers. The first few times I tried it, it seemed to hang. But, I finally decided to be patient and let it finish--it took a good bit of time to complete the export, but it did work. So, I'd suggest trying again, and just wait and wait, and wait a little longer, and I think it will work for you.

Ditto what Rip said. I had the same problem - it doesn't tell you it's busy doing what you asked it to do - so it does look like it's just not doing anything.

Copying the files just may be faster - for those comfortable doing it that way.

Thanks DreamStalker...exactly what I needed and a forum search found your post.

Here is another question along the same line and I'm hoping someone has the answer.

Recently I had an unrelated system problem and had to do a full restoration of my whole computer. I had My Documents backed up from the current day but the system restore was from a week earlier. Since I didn't have DreamStalkers guidance at that time I had no way of restoring the current EncorePro data. That means I now have a one week data hole in Encore Pro. The good news is that I backup the SmartCard data everyday using MyCPAP Card Utility.

The question is, can I use the MyCPAP Card Utility data from those missing 7 days to restore the gap in EncorePro? Put another way, if I restore to the SmartCard from MyCPAP Card Utility and then read the card into EncorePro will EncorePro know that the data on the card is from several weeks ago.

Thanks for any advice.

Nelson, I think restoring the backedup data using MyCPAP would work. But I have never tried that. If you have a second card, then you can experiment with that one without taking any risk. The author of MyCPAP still visits this forum occasionally. Perhaps you can find a post from him and send him a PM msg?

If you try the restore, I would be interested in your results.

I decided to try a test. In EncorePro I created a new patient named Test Test. Then, from MyCPAP Card Utility I restored June 30th to a blank card. Then I downloaded the restored card to EncorePro. I repeated the process for June 1st and then for June 15th. When I opened the compliance view the three days were exactly where they should have been.

Based on that success I deleted the test patient and restored all of my missing days to my EncorePro data. The gap that I had from the full computer restoration was three weeks. It is now all filled in and I can see all of the trends and statistics that I find so helpful.

I sure appreciate all of the folks that contribute to this forum.
