13 to 9 pressure affects type of mask???

Post by jomac30 » Sun Jun 22, 2008 7:24 am

I was unable to tolerate nasal pillows with a pressure of 13. Now I found out my pressure is around 9. Would this make the nasal pillows more tolerable? The air used to burn my nostrils.

Started: 1/25/07 Pressure: 13
Masks: Comfortselect, Comfortgel, Comfortlite 2, UMFF, Optilife

My pressure was set at 7 cms and I found after 2-3 nights that the nasal pillows dried my nasal passage too much. Ayr Saline Nasal Gel did alleviate that problem in short order but I decided I wasn't all that wild about the pressure so direct into my nasal passages and opted to go w/a nasal cushion style mask which I found more comfortable.

I have read that the nasal pillows interfaces are more difficult to contro leaks at the higher pressures but there are those here successfully using nasal pillows at quite high pressures.

For the time being, get some Ayr Saline Nasal Gel to use until your nasal passages toughen up. Do NOT use ANYTHING w/a petroleum base in your nostrils.
