I Bounce . . . "Slightly Off Topic"

Post by j.a.taylor » Fri Jun 13, 2008 10:49 am

I thought I'd take this opportunity to let my friends at cpap.com commiserate with me.

Wednesday and Thursday of this week, a group of us brought together about 250 people from across the State of Michigan to help with a Habitat for Humanity blitz in Benton Harbor, Michigan.

I was in charge of a crew building a shed. With less then 2 hours to go before the days end, and the end of our project participation, a gust of wind blew the truss we were lifting, and knocked me off a ladder (I was about 8 feet in the air).

On the way down, I hit the ladder, knocked myself unconscious, and when I came to I had severe back pain. So I had the privilege of being strapped to a backboard and transported by ambulance to the local E.R.

After a CT Scan on my head and neck, and X-rays of my left hip and pelvis, the official results came back. I'm alright, but severely bruised . . .

According to the doctor, today I'd enjoy a good measure of pain (which I am), and his official statement . . .

. . . I bounce well.

Perhaps it's all that air I blow into my face every night. Keeps me inflated like a beach ball, and gives me a well-defined sense of humor.

Today's life lesson: If you're have to fall off a ladder, make sure you bounce well!

Oh baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so sorry..... GIANT CYBER HUG AND A KISS ON YOUR BOO-BOO!

Soooooooooooooo glad you're okay.... It always amazes me how fast we can go from "severely bruised" to "brain damaged". I slammed my finger in a drawer the other night and was shocked to discover I still owned that finger and it worked. I would have been less surprised to find it laying on the floor, neatly amputated.

Huggers,
Babs

Gosh, John! Glad you made it through with bruises only, but I'm sure you're aching like crazy.

Take care!

I wanted to commiserate, John, but you had me laughing out loud.

I'm very glad you bounce so well - though I'm sure bouncability is somenthing we would all rather not test.

Yep, must be the cpap air. Aren't you glad you're compliant?

President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

Hope to hear that you'll be bouncing about soon!
Take care !

Glad you're ok though torn knee kigaments are no fun. And a little helium might help that bounciness....*boing*....

Yep, bounce definitely better than splat!!!

30 years ago when we were building our house, a split level, hubby was on a scaffold between two ladders up at the highest peak painting and I was out in the kennel doing chores. All of a sudden I heard this rat-a-tat-tat, rat-a-tat-tat. Hubby slipped stepping off the scaffold onto the ladder. He had a claw hammer in his tool belt. That rat-a-tat-tat was the hammer hitting each and every rung of the ladder on the way down, head first. By the time I jumped the fence and ran over he was just laying there jack-knifed on his head and knees. Not moving. Gads! I just KNEW he was dead w/a broken neck!!! Thank God, he wasn't, just severely stunned.

Its funny now, that rat-a-tat-tat, but it sure wasn't that day and for quite some time to come!!!!!!

Tell me these darn Frenchmen aren't hard-headed!!!

JA- Ouch! & Whew!

An ouch because I know what it's like to fall off a ladder. Been there... done that. A whew because you're okay.... thanks goodness!

I too would like to add a kudos to that ouch and whew. Kudos for such cool charity work! It's only apropos that anyone who helps others bounce right back should also bounce back instead of going splat!

In summary: BOING! OUCH! WHEW! BOING! ....but not SPLAT! And a sizeable KUDOS thrown onto that SPLATless heap for good measure!

I hate ladders! Glad you are okay. I bet the Tylenol comes in handy! I noticed an earlier post about wearing a Medic Alert bracelet for just such times.

And reading some other posts, some hospitals and doctors don't know what to do with a patient requiring CPAP treatment.

Like I said earlier I hate ladders, I seem to miss a step on the way down!!!
