Anyone having problems with machines after flying?

Post by bap40 » Thu Jun 12, 2008 9:12 am

With 2 reports of machines having glitches after a flight. I am wondering if this happens more frequently than we are aware of?

Also does it seem to be a particular brand of machine or not?

I voted no.

My machine - a PB420E was always with me, and I put it where it won't get banged by other people's luggage = on the floor in front of me.

Took off and landed 8 times in all with it.

I travelled with the Resmed S8 Elite for 5 weeks which included plenty of flying. Nothing seemed to bother it. It does have a good carrying case.

Just a thought. Problems with flying may be related to machines which has (auto) altitude adjusters, and something there might not be working right?

I have taken my F&P HC604 with me in at least 20 flights in the past 2 years.
So far never a problem.

I have flown with my Respironics Remstar Auto (2.5 years old machine) at least 10 times. No problems. I take it as a carry on. The Remstar Auto has automatic Altitude adjustment. I have been to San Diego, Vancouver (sea level approximately) and Calgary, Alberta which is fairly high altitude...not like Denver though and the machine continues to work fine.

I have had my machine in not so long ago at the DME's and their technician did a pressure check and it was right on.

Auto altitude features is a very interesting thought.

So far it seems like more machines travel without problems than those two I read about in another post.

Keep the comments comming and we shall see how it turns out!

Over 14 years I have traveled with an IntelliPAP, a PB 420e, an auto M, a F&P, and a huge old Respironics -- all with no problems.

I voted no.

Always carry it w/me in a "pelican 1450" case. I have had no problems, took off/landed over 120 times last year and almost 60 already this year.

It gets banged around, I'm clumsy, but the pelican protects it.

I've flown a few times (both nationally and internationally)... and NEVER let my machine go as a checked bag. No problems with it, no matter what the altitude was.

1. Ever had a problem during security check?
2. Does your machine have manual or auto altitude adjustment?

Thanks.

I have flown with my S-8 Vantage 14 times in the past two years, no problems. I always do the carry-on thing. I do have a Pelikan case but I have used a soft sided small bag on short trips. some of my travel is for short conferences and I only need to pack a minimal amount, so the small travel bag goes inside the roll-on bag is use for clothes, laptop and such.

The Vantage does have auto altitude adjustment, and it seems to be working fine, but I would have to have manometer to check it, so I can't say for sure.
