Does anyone have a clue how they droped the power on the lady
who died in the Iron lung. They have doged the bullet for a very
long time as she was very old to havebeen tied to the machine that
long.
And we hose heads think we have a problem.

i saw that , amazing. she contracted polio at 3 and had been in an iron lung until 60 when she did because of a power outage. i can't imagine . you are right,if you just look around you can always find reason to give thanks.

Funny, I was just reading about Iron Lungs the other day. The article I read stated that they were very rarely used anymore due to Ventilators working just as well...not to mention the sheer size of the things.
Can you imagine spending your life inside a box? Wow.
I just read another story HERE about Martha Mason...who also still lives in an Iron Lung today due to the same circumstances. It states that in 2004 there were 39 Iron Lungs still in use in the US and probably much less today. The wild thing is that this lady COULD use a respirator and live outside her device...but she chooses not to. She claims she is more independent inside her Iron Lung. No tubes/wires/technicians/nurses, etc.
