I woke up last night feeling kind of panicky, like I still do on very rare occasions when I think I'm not getting enough air. I said to myself that this is ridiculous and just go back to sleep. Well, I laid back down and couldn't shake it. (I don't like to give in to taking the mask off, but rather adjust to it. I found in the beginning when I felt this way a lot, that seemed to work the best.) Sat up and remembered what someone suggested one time--and I do it often--just stick your hand in front of the mask vent to feel the air and that will help you realize that you're getting plenty of air to breathe. I did that and---there was no air! I jolted all the way awake, trying to quickly figure out what was going on. I went to pull the mask off and realized the hose was not attached! The machine was going and the hose wasn't attached to the mask.
This morning when I looked at my report, I had a large leak, then a gap of about 20 minutes where the hose was disconnected. Why did I stay asleep so long after the hose disconnected, I wonder? It really scared me that I stayed asleep THAT long and that, in my sleepy haze, I even tried to go back to sleep not realizing I wasn't "connected." Think I'll duct tape the rubber end of the hose to the connector! LOL
Is there an alarm or something that I can turn on that would help this situation?
