Suggest a CPAP pressure . . .

Post by hobbs » Wed May 21, 2008 7:30 pm

After (5) years with a non data capable cpap set to 12, I recently got a Resmed S8 AutoSet Vantage. The first week it was set to cpap at 12 with the following results.
Pressure=12.2 leak=.28 AHI=4.8 AI=0.0 HI=4.8

Having tried different settings as a apap, my best results were when set to 9-16 with the following results.
Pressure=10.8 Leak=.12 AHI=3.8 AI=0.0 HI=3.8

Leak rate is probably better because the Activa cushion was recently replaced.

What does the collective wisdom suggest for a cpap pressure?

The slightly lower average pressure could also account for your lower leak rate. Given that I jump for joy when I get my HI below 10 on the same machine, I'd say you're doing well.

I'm not going to venture an opinion on a good pressure for you, cos auto seems to work for you.

With numbers like that, you don't need advice! Looks to me like you got it right.
