NEED SOME CLASS!

Post by PauloBrazil » Tue May 20, 2008 10:59 am

Dear friends,
First an introduction: I am 58, Brazilian retired Mechanical Engineer, using CPAP since April,22nd. Still fighting with the mask! But much better sleep quality, with no need to go to the bathroom during the night, what indicates my blood presssure is better now!

I had an open heart surgery in 1981, to change my aortic valve to a metallic prosthesis, and I am living well with it.

Due too OSA and very bad sleep quality, I decided to go to the CPAP therapy after doing the polisonography (sorry for my bad English and spelling).
The mask indicated to me was the Comfort Lite 2, and I must say I had a lot of information from this fantastic forum about the mask.
I decided to register today in order to clarify one point:

- I have some intense nostril (right nostril) sore mainly at the beginning of my sleep. I am not sure what happens after, because I am asleeping then.
Like to have some leaking although the information from the card is compatible with the mask graph for the required pressure (8 cm H2O).

My mask is M size, and seems to be adequate.

What is your advice as teachers in this case.
Thank you very much for your attention

Welcome!

I have the same mask. Have you tried using Ayr gel on the outside of the bottom of your nose before putting on your mask? Or KY gel or jelly? If you let it dry a few minutes, it will be a little sticky and not only will it help with soreness, but also with seal.

Good luck!
Mindy

Mindy,
thanks for your quick response.
Could you please clarify what is an Ayr gel or KY gel or jelly.
I have never heard of these here in Brazil.
Thanks

Paulo,

Here in the states we get that kind of stuff in a drugstore. So I would look in whatever kind of store you have as an equivalent.

Dear Pineapple,
Thanks for clarifying. Of course we have it (and for much better use than a sore nostril).
Serious now: it is nice to know it is from Johnson&Johnson.

Thanks

You can also use pure lanolin, which might be easier for you to find in Brazil.
