Encore Pro Error, Please help!

Post by jcranmer » Sun May 18, 2008 9:15 pm

Ok I've been using Encore Pro for over a year now. And tonight I'm getting the attached error when I try to download my data. This happens at the "Updating Database" step of the download process.

Anyone seen this before?

If so what was the fix? I've already tried updating from 1.7 to 1.8. And I still get the same error.

My next steps are to format my smartcard, and blow away my SQL DB. I'm hoping I don't have to do either of those since I have more then a year's worth of data downloaded.

Any ideas??

Thanks
James

You may have tried this, but you copy and google the error code. You never know what you might find out.

I would say that if it was the card - it wouldn't read the card and would display a different message. To see if it is reading the card you can just ask it to view the card - goto SmartCard Utilities > Preview.

Of course the card has to be in the reader first - the correct way too. Really, that has happened before too.

Sounds like it can't find the database or its corrupt. Have a power interruption recently? Try a chkdsk? Did you move the database? Do a new install on a different pc?

Good Luck,

I posted this error a while back. It's a fatal DB error having to do with write timing, but to tell you how fatal it is, I left it alone for a few days and tried it again and it worked fine.
It's happened twice in the last year and both times I just waited a few days and tried it again. Been working fine ever since......

Hope this helps and works for you!!!!
cheers

sounds like it is this one since EncorePro uses MSSQL database engine:

I would also check your ODBC driver, updating MDAC may fix it.

No recent power failures, but now that I think of it, I did manage to run out of space on the drive it's installed to a few days back. It very well could have caused the DB to become corrupt.

I did verify that the card was in the reader correctly (And the green light was on) and it would read the card when using the Preview option.

I'm running under MSDE at the moment. I have an install CD around here somewhere for either SQL Server 2000 or 2003. If I can find it, I'll try to install the admin tools and see if there is a way to check the DB and repair it.
