sorry for the long post in advance

Hi there! Im from Houston Tx and go to college at Texas A&M University in College Station tx, I am 22 years old and am thankful to have a psychiatrist who recommended that i get a sleep study done. I have had a CPAP for about a year but have only started actually using it in the past 3 months. I got to a point when i finally started using it where I felt better during the day and was not as tired as well as starting to lose weight (technically morbidly obese) fairly quickly. Then i quit using it again. I started using it again about a week ago with a replacement resmed s8 elite with mirage swift I but started getting a problem where my nose would be full of liquid/water. Ive been reading about rainout and the thing is that do not use a humidifier at all since this problem used to happen all the time with one. The machine is lower than my bed, and i do like it very cold to sleep, but i can compromise (usually like it around 69-70, nose does not hurt at 73-74). I just was curious if this is still considered rainout? or why is it gathering in my nose. The next issue is that before i go to sleep, i get a saliva buildup in my mouth (not more than any other person), when not on cpap, you just swallow and go on about going to sleep; but with cpap, when i swallow(i dont think i am swallowing air into my stomach, because i do not have the pain or pressure in the morning) i seem to get air pressure behind my ears. I then have to take the mask off, swallow again to pop my ears, and then continue to try to sleep. What is causing that and is there a way to remedy it?

Sorry again for the long post, and thanks to who responds

With the air cooling the mask, the natural humidity in your breath can condense on the mask's cold parts.

Do you have a hose cover? That seems to help a lot. I also need to raise or lower my humidifier depending on the weather of the day. It doesn't always stay set in one position. The condensation could be caused by the type mask you use as well. Have you ever tried any other mask?

the only other mask i have tried was a gel one, forgot the brand though, i like the swift a lot since actual face/nose masks (not nasal pillows) seem to leak a lot on my face.

Thats the thing as well, i do not us a humidifier and am still getting water in my nose.

The air in BCS is full of green growing things and mold this time of year which makes sinuses run. Rinseing with NeilMed Sinus Rinse helps flush out irritants and make the sinuses dry out a bit.

Even without a humidifier it generally won't dry you out.

Hi, welcome to the forum.

I don't know about the water accumulation, but about the ears popping when swallowing. Try to swallow only when you exhale. I think you'll find that it's not so bad.
