Bon Voyage!

Post by -SWS » Thu Jun 16, 2005 2:20 pm

Just a brief farewell to all the friends and "family" I have come to know and love on the apnea message boards throughout the years. I have learned so much from so many!

If any one person's shared understanding is but a drop of water, then collectively humanity is a common sea of wisdom and knowledge on which to sail life's chosen destination. I wish to thank so many here with whom I have been so fortunate to sail these high seas. My next ship has come to port and it beckons my next journey in life.

Farewell and good luck, my friends! I will come to sail with you again in the distant future!

Thanks for everything. I will miss your posts - your wisdom, your insights and your way with the language - so much.

...Maybe if you take a plane the future will not be so distant?
Oh - Will you be coming back to read our reactions?

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! R&R, I guess a metaphor will not suffice so I had better explain myself more fully. My current and upcoming client-based obligations are getting increasingly difficult to keep up with. On top of that I also made a commitment to go back to volunteering with the mentally handicapped. Based on my past experience I know this to be a massively time and energy intense commitment. However, I am convinced the shortage of volunteers is so much more severe there than here---if there is a shortage here at all.

In an earlier post I had joked that my free time lately can be measured in nanoseconds. As soon as my volunteer obligations commence, very soon, that statement will be close to the truth!

I will continue to spot-check the boards since you have all impacted my life so positively! Take care all!

It won't be the same without you, -SWS!

On the one hand it's wonderful that your business is so busy. No surprise, having seen your mind at work on so many highly technical subjects on the boards. Our loss - your clients' gain.

But, but..... it just won't be the same, gosh darn it.

You're going to very much be missed, my dear friend.

Take care. Take a nice long "board-break". And please come back to us in the not-so-distant future. If for no other reason, than to let everyone see your tail's still waggin'.

P.S. As usual, I was writing while you were posting! lol
And as usual, you try to hide your light under a bushel.
What a wonderful thing you'll be doing, volunteering what little spare time you have in that way. What a good thing to do.

Yes, please try to come back occasionally and regale us with your techie talk and explanations on how algorithms work! Everything seems so clear once you explain them. No, I'm not being facetious

He may be a technical wizard, but to me he is also the Great Humanitarian. It is fitting that he should commit to helping the mentally handicapped because his compassion knows no bounds. This is just one more intriguing facet to such a multi-faceted man. He astonishes me at every turn. I will miss you, Steve. I will miss not seeing the spinning globe that is so befitting you. My peeps will miss you too. You have a gift for making everyone you meet feel special. I suspect these wonderful people with whom you will be volunteering will be the happy beneficiaries of this gift. It warms me to know you're out there helping such deserving people. That's our SWS!!

Hi -SWS,

I am sorry to hear of your departure. I hope that you will pop in and update us on how things are going and get us back on the right technical track now and then.

I completely understand that keeping up with this forum takes a lot of time, and I struggle sometimes to find the necessary time also -- sometimes at the expense of sleep -- and here we are on a sleep apnea forum! LOL.

You are a bright, kind and compassionate man -- good luck in your upcoming endeavors!
Sleep well,
