makers of full face masks

Post by sleepie » Mon Feb 25, 2008 6:34 am

one of the manufactuers need to make a full face mask ---with the activa type cushion--so it won't leak and you would'nt have to wear it so tight--that shock absorber thing is greatest----pat

Isn't the Quattro meant to be something like that?

Unfortunately, it is not. The cushion is made of a similar material, but it does not inflate like the Activa at all. That being said, it is the best full-face mask I've tried so far.

Good luck!

Same here with Quatro. I tried the Activa and found it to seal perfectly but with GERD I am certainly not going to tape my mouth.

I just want to go back to sleep!

I couldn't tolerate taping, and I tried the chinstraps, but couldn't stand having it wrapped around my head or the cup design that actually pulls the chin back. So, I came up with my own design, have used it for two weeks, no more mouth breathing or dry mouth! Decided to make more of these and set up a website for them.

I should think it would have the effect of pulling the mask down and thereby creating leaks up above. Where am I wrong on this?

Perhaps that would be an issue if it were VERY tight, tighter than the headgear straps, but I haven't had that problem. I've found that I do not need to adjust the chinstrap to be extra tight, since mouth opening is more of a reflex, relaxation move as opposed to a muscle driven thrusting movement. But, like all of this stuff--masks, machines, humidifiers--everyone is different. What works for one might or might not work for another. For me, this fix has been golden.

Hi Pat,

Yes, hoping/planning to do that as soon as I catch up to the break even point with money invested in this project so far. And, I guess this will depend, too, on the old supply/demand thing. Now, the demand is exceeding supply to the degree that I had to change the website from "will ship next business day" to "will ship within 72 hours" while we (my wife/a.k.a. chief seamstress/quality control and me/a.k.a. design/marketing) catch up with orders received.

What we'd REALLY like to see would be one of Johnny Goodman's PRODUCT CHALLENGES--this chinstrap versus any of the others out there that are brave enough to go "head-to-head" with the RipVW100 :<) And, that would provide 50 free ones for participants. Sent Johnny a PM, asking him to take a look at the chinstrap, but have had no reply yet. I know he's very busy, doesn't come to the forum every day.

I've been doing the same thing with the help of a RG strap. Helps keep the mask down instead of sliding up my face. I haven't woke up in the middle of the night with dried out eyes since using it.

A RestedGal strap. Or one of the 101 plus uses of pantyhose (besides covering your legs)
