Smart Card / ResScan info required

Post by kluzo » Thu Feb 14, 2008 1:57 pm

I took the data off my trial machine before giving it back. It shows a bunch of dates that I can not access or shows "no data" It only shows the last 4 days.

1) How many days of data can that tiny little think hold?

2) After down loading info into the computer, is that data still on the smart card?

3) If Yes to #2, how do I reset the card or get the info off?

Thank You in advance

Cheers!

Smartcard holds 180 days of summary data and 5 days of detailed data.

It doesn't delete the data from the card.

The dates with no data could be because the machine wasn't used that day. It could also mean the DME didn't set the machine up for you by deleting all data.

I had one case where the smartcard didn't download all the data so I d/l it again. Only happened once. I have never seen a way to reset the card or delete the data.

so I have to buy a new smart card every 180 days?

- I have had the trial machine for almost 4 weeks and has been using it every night as well as a few evening naps. I did bring it in I think a week ago, maybe 2, to get an idea on what my numbers were..... I didn't know at the time how to get the info on the LCD display till today So it should have shown me at least a week of info if they reset it... I would assume, but only showed 4 nights of activity.

Cheers

The most recent 5 days of detailed data and the most recent 180 days of summary data.

Yes.

I'm not currently using ResScan so someone else will have to answer that.

IIRC, there is a way to clear/format/erase the card in AutoScan 5.7, but I've never had a particular need to do that.

Cheers,

Bill

No, it just retains the most recent 180 days... you can conceptually think of it as the oldest data being overwritten by the newest data once you have accumulated 180 days of data.

In practice, when you put the ResScan card in the S8, all the data on the card is renewed from the data in the flow generator. The flow generator will retain data longer than the card (the most recent 360 days, IIRC) but can only write out the data which will fit on the card (the most recent 180 days). There are other ways of getting data off the S8 flow generators, and the additional data, if required, can be accessed through those mechanisms.

The ResScan PC software can retain data read from the card indefinitely, if you want to do that.

Cheers,

Bill

If you have Resscan with the card reader, you just create a patient (yourself) and add the data to the database. Save when you exit and you will always have the data.

But ... you do have to download the data to the software AT LEAST every 4-5 days and then do the save to the patient file.
