Looking for reviews on the Breeze

Post by Nal » Tue Jan 29, 2008 10:21 pm

I'm currently using the Swift II, and am doing okay with it, except for being frustrated by only being able to sleep on one side.

I'm looking at ordering a Breeze, but would like to hear some user reviews before deciding. Anyone?

I sleep on both sides with Swift II. I don't have any leaks or problems doing that.

What he is trying to say is, yes it works, but not 100%. I have the same problem. When you lay on the side the hose outlet is on it moves your mask a little bit. Its not the hose its the bulk of the connection hitting the pillow. I think it is a great design but if you route it to far to one side it puts more pressure on one side. I just purchased the breeze because there is no left or right side. It goes up straight over your head. I'll post my findings.

I used the Breeze very happily for almost two years. I'm mostly a side sleeper, turning over often.

I always used an extra homemade strap around the front, to keep the nasal pillows more steadily in place. Like so, or even lower:

Here are a lot of discussions about the Breeze with nasal pillows:

I'd recommend it to people who like to sleep on their side, but not to anyone who sleeps on their back much. Unless.... unless the "back sleeper" does some lab-ratting to the headgear. You can find tips for modifications to the Breeze in the Lab Rat awards:

Hanging the hose overhead so it doesn't tug at the headgear is very helpful:

With the Breeze, I'd suggest always choosing nasal pillows that are bigger than you (or a DME fitting someone) would think "fit." "Bigger than you'd think" will not have to go into the nostrils much at all and will do their sealing very well more around the outside of the nostril openings.

I'd suggest the "Large" (light green) pillows for women, and the Large or Extra Large (lavender) for men.

All of Breeze pillows sizes are very soft and smushy...very comfortable.... except the "Medium." The clear silicone used for the Medium size has always seemed to be considerably stiffer than the colored silicone used for all the other sizes.

I'm a side sleeper and have used the Breeze for over 5 years with a deluxe chin strap over the top that holds it in place. I've gotten along fine with it.

Everyone is different ... so any specific mask will fit everyone a bit differently. The metal spine and back plate parts of the Breeze headgear sucks. Nonetheless, I made it work for me and the Breeze has worked best for me for well over a year now ... but I did have to modify it and remove the spine and back plate. Some of us redesign existing masks to make them fit our specific needs and unique facial/'head features.

Good luck finding (or lab-ratting) a mask that works best for you.

I appreciate the input.

I've tried sleeping on the "hose side" with my Swift, but find that laying on the hose is too uncomfortable, and causes the pillows to shift around too much.

I'm concerned about the metal parts on the Breeze. I have a feeling I'll need to make some adjustments there. If I get one, I'll check back for advice on alterations.

Thanks again!

The Breeze does have padding where it touches your head.

I used it before the Headrest, and I used to place a folded tennis sock between the top of my head and the forward pad.

Just make sure you wash the sock after wearing to playing tennis

OK, I have a New Breeze question for everyone. according to the mask sizer on the cpap.com website it sounds like my nose or face might be to big for the New Breeze. They do not recommend it for me. Anyone with a bigger nose or face have it and have a problem? see any issues with a fat nose? I know I can get the insurance but paying for return shipping and another $21 is a little steep for me.

I currently us the Switft II and I would love to use this with the hose over the head.

Thanks in advance.
